yeah.. not a good day for famous people, Serena Williams also made an @ss of herself last night

That was ugly yesterday. And that Kanye ####### was just as crazy.

We were in the stands at that match. She told the lineswoman that she would ram the ball down her throat.

Come on, you two. Rudeness and narcissistic behaviour doesn't owe its origins to affirmative action.

Not sure, but I'm thinking the idea is that a black person enjoying any amount of success must be attrributable to affirmative action??

That's kind of what I read in that argument too. Its pretty dumb of course because it implies that the people who buy Kanye's music do so to give the black man a chance.

I take it back - its not only dumb, its fvcking stupid.

People don't think these things through before they say them.

Affirmative Action...in action. I missed where they extended it to performing artists but this is exactly what affirmative action does.

Wow, you don't hide the fact that you're a hill billy and a racist do ya?

Idiots don't come in just one color, sex, height or weight. But you believe this happened because he's Black right?

So did Affirmative Action have some effect on Timothy McVeigh? Or is that dead, dickless, child murdering ** one of your heroes?

Maybe you want to stick to performing artist. How about Jerry Lee Lewis marrying his cousin. That was long before Affirmative Action,

but maybe inbreeding is your kind of thing.

You really need to realize that you didn't do anything to be born the way you are. The way you were born is a random consequence.

You should be no more proud or ashamed of something that you had no control over. You can be proud of your accomplishments,

and you can be ashamed of a lack of any as well.

I am a higly educated resident of a highly progressive state on a lakefront home surrounded by mountians infested with high brow liberals and Harvard graduates. There are no hillbillies in Vermont.

I never mentioned "black", maybe it is an issue for you. Affirmitive action is when something (in this case an award) is taken from someone who earns it and given to someone who doesn't earn it. Color has nothing to do with it...except maybe for you. Affirmative Action is often racist in nature.

I believe this happened because a person (or persons) decided Beyonce should have the award even though she didn't earn it. It is Affirmative Action...in action. This is what happens when an individual or group of individuals decides to give things to people who have not earned them. Awards, jobs, whatever.

Agreed. It is the opposite. Affirmative Action IS rude and narcissistic. As aptly demonstrated in this case. Quite offensive, isn't it? Someone works hard to earn something and then, just as it would be given to them, it is snatched away by someone and given to someone else who didn't work as hard to earn it. When it is demonstrated it even irritates liberals. And often, as in this case, it eventually embarrasses the "beneficiary" who realizes she was given (in this case) attention that was deserved by someone else who earned it. It is a terible system and very racist and insulting by its nature. It assumes that one person (or people) are unable to do something on their own, to earn something on their own. I believe all people are equal and equally able to achieve their goals.

If someone would like to explain to me why a certain race color or creed is UNable to achieve their goals if they work at it...I'm listening.

I very well thought through my answer. The public demonstration of the affect of Affirmaitive Action was very offensive, even to you.

Here's why I would think that you're not highly educated, and that you are a racist. Someone highly educated, wouldn't expect this forum to believe that when you use the term "Affirmative Action" that you are not in fact referring to those referred to in the US as "Black" (not describing a color, but a group of people and therefore capitalized as with the description of other groups of people). It's common knowledge that Affirmative Action was an attempt to give improper favor to "Black" people specifically. It's also common knowledge that typically those who complain about Affirmative Action are doing so because they feel that sometime in their life or career they were passed unfairly in favor of some Black person they feel they were superior to. It's common knowledge that a considerable amount of the time, these people who complain that they do not succeed because of "Affirmative Action" know full well that their failure (or limited success) is due to their own shortcomings or inadequacies. Affirmative Action is not often racist in nature, it is ALWAYS racist in nature. I have never heard of someone making reference to "Affirmative Action" unless they were discussing favorable treatment based on race or gender. The way you're back-peddling now does not show intelligence, instead it shows that you believe you're clever....clever enough to deceive everyone in this forum.

Intelligent people and clever people make the same sorts of mistakes all the time. The difference is, the intelligent person owns up to it, laughs at it, and learns from it.

That's how they become intelligent.

Yeah...I couldn't believe it either.

For the record (no pun intended), I have never been a fan of Affirmative Action. It does unjustly give favor to those who are less qualified, and likewise has the ability to unjustly take away credit, and deserved recognition, from those who are actually qualified.

BTW, this is the part where he's going to start claiming how successful he is, that he's never been jealous of some Black person, and that he couldn't be a racist, because he has so many Black friends.

Except you haven't really explained how Kanye's actions amount to Affirmative Action.

Firstly, Kanye did not take the award away from Taylor Swift, she was still the winner regardless of what some drunken/drug addled douchebag said at the event - so the affirmative action argument is bogus from that perspective.

Secondly, there is no evidence whatsoever that either Kanye or Beyonce enjoy successful music careers because the people who buy their music are buying it out of some sense of pitied obligation. So its bogus from that perspective too.

I think Jenn had it right - you're just using this incident as a springboard to a rant about something you have your panties in a twist over, regardless of whether it actually applies to the events in question.

Again - you didn't think it through, and just are too stubborn to admit that you made a silly argument.

The terms affirmative action and positive action refer to policies that take race, ethnicity, or gender into consideration in an attempt to promote equal opportunity or increase ethnic or other forms of diversity.

Intelligent people know what words mean before they use them.

However, Beyonce did win another award and she called Taylor to come up and finish her speach during her time.

I didn't see that, but yes, that is awesome of her. She looked pretty embarrassed when he was talking.

Booyaa. You are very very talented.

Oh look, Booyah. He gave a shout out to you!

Kanye's apology was like when someone says "I'm really sorry that you felt I was rude to you" rather than "I'm sorry I was rude."

From Kanye's blog (was all in caps, got this from an article)

"I'm so sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment! Beyonce's video was the best of this decade!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV.

I will apologize to Taylor 2mrw (tomorrow). Welcome to the real world!!! Everybody wanna boo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture! No disrespect but we watchin' (watching) the show at the crib right now cause...well you know!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!! Booyaa. You are very very talented. I gave my award to Outkast when they deserved it over me. That's what it is! I'm not crazy yall (y'all), I'm just real. Sorry for that! I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!"

Someone remind me why he is so rich and famous again?

Aside from the Gold-digger song, what did he produce worth noting?
