Comedy actress Tina Fey has won an Emmy Award for her satirical portrayal of Republican vice-presidential contender Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live.

Fey was honoured at the Creative Arts Primetime Emmys, which recognise technical and other achievements.

As Fey collected her trophy, she made reference to Palin, who resigned in July as governor of Alaska less than a year after she was chosen as vice-presidential contender.

"Mrs Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs Palin."

Yes, really good, and you probably would like it when one woman makes fun of another woman of her own race, really intelligent.

Good for her. I thought she did a great job of her portrayal as Palin.

 What does race have to do with this?

Hmmm, Tina Fey must have won this Emmy due to affirmative action.

He meant gender, but it still makes no sense. Why would female comedians limit themselves to making fun of only male politicians? How would that work, exactly? Particularly with this kind of lampoon?

Be that as it may, I am with the person who wondered how you can win an Emmy for one characterization however good it is.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Because it was good enough to get commentary on all the major networks and media publications, and because (as said above) Palin herself came to SNL to 'spoof' with the 'spoofer'?

They also have Emmy's for guest roles on TV shows and whatnot. Also, apparently Justin Timberlake won an Emmy for the sketches he appeared in when he hosted SNL.

It was also pretty memorable - people who didn't/don't watch SNL saw those skits.

Though I will say that although the performances were really good, I also think Tina was lucky that she fit the look-alike thing - seems like its similar to right-place/right-time.
