I am curious from the experiences that many of our vj members have had, what types of questions have the embassy asked in the interview. I am curious as to what to expect in the interview and what types of things should we be prepared for. This may be covered somewhere else, but I would like to begin a fresh thread and Im sure others would like to hear also. Thanks!!

When did you meet

Did you meet the family?

When is the birthday, how old is fiance/spouse

Where do they live, where do they work, how long have they been at job?

Did the family approve of the two of you?

Whats the parents names? Siblings?

Ever been divorced?

these are a few off the top of my head... considering its 1:30am lol i will think of more, and im sure others will add some too.

When did we meet, when did we marry, where did he take me, where do i work(2jobs), where was i born, did my family meet him(yes grandparents)

I pulled up my old thread from 2007 and these are some questions that were asked of Adam.

Here are the questions from our interview:

-How did you guys meet?

-When did you guys first see each other in person?

-Did you both see each other before you were married?

-Did you get married in Iran?

-Did you (me) leave right after you were married? (I stayed with him a month)

-What does he plan on doing when he receives his visa... are you (me) staying with him until he gets his visa and comes to the US? (I'm leaving in June but he's coming soon thereafter...hopefully before the college year starts)

-She asked me whether I have a cosponser...I replied yes, she asked me if he was my father, I said yes again.

Oh and the interviewer asked to see pics... wedding pics and pics with friends and family from the entirety of our relationship... that was one of the most important part I feel.

The embassy asked my husband the following questions:

What kind of job does your wife have?

Where does she work?

Awhile back Sofiyya posted an excellent list of prep questions. I used them to prep my husband but fortunately we didn't need them. Perhaps if she reads this thread she could re-post.

THE ULTIMATE STUDY GUIDE

FOR K-1/K-3 VISA INTERVIEWS

Compiled in 2009 by VisaJourney.com member ValentinesWedding

This list includes actual interview questions, possible questions, and a number of improbable but relevant questions for anyone preparing for a K-1 or K-3 visa interview.

TIPS:

Answer the questions completely but briefly. (Remember: Less is more.)

If the question asked is a “yes/no” question, you MIGHT want to give more detail rather than saying only “yes” or “no”. Give an explanation, IF relevant.

It is OK to say “I don’t know.” If the interviewer asks you a really off-the-wall or bizarre question, you also can say “That’s never come up in conversation” or “I’ve never had a reason to ask my spouse about that.”

Because of ethical and legal concerns, some of these questions would not be asked in a typical visa interview. You should know the answers anyway.

Remember, the interviewer doesn’t know the answers to most of these questions. But YOU should, so that you can give calm, truthful, and meaningful responses. This list of questions is NOT a “cheat sheet,” but a way to explore your relationship and gather facts that will give you credibility under pressure.
