Thank you, ILNGT!

It's just another disappointment... I hope they open their hearts about it even once in my life time... I seriously stopped thinking about solutions for a few days... I just want to relax and recover being let down again...

Thanks for the sweet wishes! Happy New Year to you too! (F)

I've been wondering for a while about your case, why have you been waiting so long?

Aya,

To make a longer story shorter...

It took 11 months after our k3 application was approved for our interview. My husband was then put into AP. A little over a month later, they wanted his passport to issue his visa. His passport was sent back to him with no visa. The embassy was sending our file back to the US. (Still don't know what happened in those few days to change things.) The embassy held onto our file for a couple more months before returning it to the states (they sent it back two days before I arrived in Amman.)

fast forward through a whole lot of stuff....my husbands I130 interview went very well. The CO told him that she didn't understand why he hadn't been issued a visa a long time ago and that we had a pretty simple case. She said that he was approved, but we are now in AP. I don't get my hopes up too high because of our past experiences with this whole process.

That is the quick and short version.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

I have been wondering if the interviewer is the same CO who follows the case since it arrives at the embassy until it leaves, including any AP, AR, or final reviews... Or do several CO's follow each case? Does anybody have any idea?

Aya,

Im so sorry that your meeting with your family didnt go well. I do hope that they will come around once you arrive here, get married and report a happy life to them. (F)

Happy New Year all

Illnevergetthis,

(F) God willing it is soon.

Have you tried any rep support in this at all? Like a congressman to at least inquire along with an explanation of the k3 drama...

good luck

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

John called DOS today and no updates yet... The rep told him that Cairo embassy is very busy at the moment... DOS answered our question though, the CO who runs the interview is the same CO that follows the rest of the case until it departs the embassy...

I really hope we hear some good news by the end of this week!

Lisa,

John and I agreed on trying ONE more time before we book my ticket... If things become better, he will come and fly back with me... If they don't, I'm flying by myself... I truly didn't want things to go that way... But, I do feel good about all the times we have tried.. We have done our best and we know it...

Thank you for your well wishes (L) I hope things get better one day...

(F) God willing it is soon.

Lisa,

I contacted my congressman in 2007 when our K3 was at the embassy. The congressman's person told me that we were in AP and that I would just have to wait. I went back to her office after we were informed that the case was being sent back to the states and the same lady was very rude and told me that there was nothing that they could do.

I contacted a different representative right before I got an RFE on our I130. Being that I got the RFE and they were working on the case, I didn't follow thru. After we gathered and emailed everything back to them for the RFE, it took about two months and they approved the application. My husband said that this interview went very well and that she told him that he was approved...among other things, but she needed the status on our old K3 before she could issue the visa...that was August 24th.

I called USCIS and they told me that the K3 had been approved.

On September 5, he got a 221g asking for two documents (one of which was in our RFE to USCIS) and saying that we were in AP that would last from 4 to 6 months.

I emailed the embassy after he was issued the 221g and they told me that we are now in AP and that it has nothing to do with Washington (I guess document verification.) They also said that they don't need anything else from USCIS. They told me that they would contact us when the processing is complete.

I have called DOS more times than I can count. A couple of the people on the phone told me that the Amman is slow when it comes to AP. We are officially at 4 months since the 221g. I just hope that they really do issue the visa this time.

We are now just waiting on the AP to complete. I have been emailing the embassy every couple of weeks and they just keep telling me that AP takes time and that they will contact us.

Inshalla, it will not last more than the six months that they told us.

John called DOS today and no updates yet... The rep told him that Cairo embassy is very busy at the moment... DOS answered our question though, the CO who runs the interview is the same CO that follows the rest of the case until it departs the embassy...

I really hope we hear some good news by the end of this week!

Aya,

I think that is great news that it is the same CO that sees the case through. I am so glad that he asked that question.

Hey ladies!!

The past week has been pretty much busy for me.... I got relocated to the new branch of my work.. I gave my month notice already....

I had that big family meeting with my mom, stepdad, uncles... I said everything, covered every point, poured my heart out to them, spoke logically, begged for a chance.... I tried one more time to open their hearts about me and John, but as usual nothing worked and they were surprised I'm even still trying and how 'bold' I am to say who I want to marry....typical... After the depressing outcome I told John to put our plan that he comes to fly back with me on hold *sigh* I think it is not going to be safe either for me or him :( I just really don't know what to do now.... He still wants to come, but I'm just not sure what could happen to both of us... I don't want to give up on trying with my family yet, but this is just depressing.....

About our case updates, I emailed the embassy on Monday about our case status and the last they said is that it is 'Under Consular's Final Review'... Does anyone of you ladies know how long it could last?... John called DOS after and no more updates until this afternoon...

The New Year is a few minutes away now in Egypt!!! :) I'm spending the first hours of it online with John just like last year.... In a few minutes we're going to be talking at the same time, but in two different years!! in I'm going to be in 2010 and he's going to be in 2009 for 7 hours!! Cool, ha? LOL! :P I know it's going to be cooler if we spent it together side by side...but I'll just keep my hopes up and pray that next year is a better year...

Happy New Year Everyone!!! (F)

why don't they agree ?? what's their opinion??

oh consular's final review is the last step before they print your visa , so it could happen within a week or within a month but you will get it soon isA :) i am in the final review since 10th of december and i am still waiting hmmmmm nothing you can do but waiting because they seem too busy nowadays ...good luck :)

Thank you for your wishes.

My CO was an American lady in her late 20's or mid-30's.. She had short hair and is light-skinned..

They don't agree because they want me to marry an Egyptian. Their opinion hasn't changed for a year and half now...I wouldn't have minded to wait longer, but my fiance and I have been through many things because of them and I'm just not willing to go through that any longer... I pray things get better...

Thanks for the info! I hope it doesn't take long till we hear some good news...

I emailed the embassy again last night, I'll give it a couple more days to hear back from them.

Good luck to you too! :)

Aya,

You are very strong. I have friends that did not marry who they loved because their parents only wanted them to marry from their native countries. I know this has to be very difficult for you. I wish you the best of luck and a happy life.
