Well all I can say is my husband's interview didn't go well. Ahmed was put on AP and they informed him it could be up to 7 months maybe longer. It's related to him being here in the U.S. before, him having two nationalities and being born in a different country then the nationalities that he has. They want verify dates and do name checks or whatever. The DOS couldn't give me further information, the operator just said the AP will take a long time.

I expected AP, although NOT seven months or more. For now all I want to say is thanks to all of you for your help, positive thoughts and listening to me venting when all I wanted to do was b1tch!

I am not in a good place now and although it will get better inshaAllah....I am not looking forward to this waiting. Again, I want to thank everyone. Take care all and best of luck on your visa journey.

Help!!! I traced on the Chronopost package we left with U.S. Embassy, and they sent it to him WEDNESDAY, would they send him a visa without them having his passport????????????? Please help, Embassy is closed, and Dept of State is all backed up.

I dont beleive this, what is in that Chronopost? Would they overnight a denial? I pray it is. They sent the package BEFORE I cancelled petition. HELP!!!

Sharifah, on the bright side - at least they were honest with your husband. It used to be (to the best of my recollection) that Cairo didn't tell the interviewee anything about AP, or said it would only be a few weeks, and then drag on for months or a year or more. inshaAllah it will actually be less than anticipated, as that seems to be the way it goes these days in Cairo.

If he wants something to do in the mean time, he can always chat with AbuS about life here in these united states and about the job hunt. Hang in there and inshaAllah we'll get together and do our best to forget all this visa crud.

I'm so sorry Shar, I wish I could cheer you up, you need a bit of time, we are always here for you!!!!

I do know how you feel when we had our interview, but now we all know how that turned out.

Funny thing Paris embassy sent our case to Wahsington, A/R Nov. 12th State dept said they have no record of my letter to cancel petition, so sending it all again soon to them.

Sharifah, I know it's a letdown when one hears the dreaded words "AP. He was lucky they

told him as then you have some sort of timeline. I'm wondering if they are beginning to finally

tell people actually how long the process takes instead of telling them a couple weeks. First one I have heard of that they didn't say "2-3wks".

As you probably have read here how many of us from Egypt have waited and waited and never told it would be a long process.

I remember the CO telling Wael at his visa interview it should be "3 wks"....yeah right...turned

into 6 months! It's good to at least know and it could be issued earlier also!!!

Think positive hon. He will be here before you know it. Don't let it get you down!

(((Sharifah))) take this time to prepare for his arrival. My husband had also been here for a few months and had 2 passports (filled) that had to be consolidated. It will happen and maybe sooner than you think.

Stay strong and positive. Hop back up on da couch and pass the Bebsi.

You have always come across on here as faithful and very positive. Once the initial disappointment sting wears off, I'm sure you will get to a place where you will be positive once again, and prepare for his arrival! (F) Hoping whatever more time you have to wait for him, flies by for you.

I think it's good to have people on board who are at all stages of the process and in all stages of relationships, from the good to the bad. Plus, this place is addictive. Once you check in, there's no checking out.

I'm sorry the interview didn't go too well but just hang in there and hopefully AP won't be as long as they predicted. (F)

Aya...long time. Sorry I haven't been around but work and home has been very crazy these days. I am sending you a PM.

As Amanda stated, I would not reschedule if you can help it. I think they will allow him at the interview but they may ask him to wait outside and then call him up to the window with you. I would ask them and see if this has changed at all....since they change their rules all the time without notice! tongue.gif

As for telling them you will fly home with your fiance, they will tell you please do not plan to do this as its not guarenteed after interview how long the VISA will take. I had a similiar conversation 2 yrs ago before H's interview with a friend that works at the embassy. They do not recommend it. In my opinion, the way that Cairo is....you never know how long your AP will be. They told us 1 week and it was over 15 days before H got his visa sent to him. There are others that are waiting 8 months tho...so keep that in mind. God willing that is not your case but be prepared for a wait after interview.

Good luck babes...rose.gif

Thank you Amanda and Annie!

Ok after waiting for 26 days with no packet 4, no interview date, and no packet 3 back.. And after emailing the embassy a few times and getting the same answer that 'The case is on the waiting list pending an interview slot.'.. I emailed yesterday this:

Dear Consular Staff,

Our case number is CROXXXXXX. I have sent packet 3 back on October 22nd, and still did not receive packet 4 or an interview date yet... Since we don't have an interview date yet, could you please schedule my interview in the second half of January because both my fiance and I would like that he attends the interview with me? He cannot make it to Egypt before that time because of his Grandmother's serious illness. I just would like to make sure if you will automatically extend the validity of our NOA2?

We are looking forward to receiving your answer as soon as possible. We really hope you grant us our request. Thank you for understanding.

Thank you,

Aya XXXX

Within 3 minutes and that's a record for Cairo, they replied me saying.....!

Dear Madam,

Thank you for your e-mail message.

We are pleased to inform you that an appointment has been scheduled for your interview on 13-DEC-2009 07:30a.m.

Regards,

Consular Staff

!!!!!!

I seriously don't get it!!! They don't give us an interview date at all for 26 days and once I email them asking to schedule at the time my fiance can make it to Cairo, they give me a totally different date! That means they had the date set already and they are ignoring our request... Why didn't they contact us earlier since they had the date set already!

I really want John to attend that interview with me, but we both know he cannot make it to Egypt on my interview date cause of the ticket prices and his grandma's illness.. On the other hand he wants me to fly back with him and since we cannot guarantee when I'm going to have the visa in hand he prefers to come after the interview... We still are thinking about rescheduling, although it is a weak possibility at the moment.. I'm just worried about the outcome of the interview since John and I only met once in person and we don't have any proof that he met any of my family... I'm anxious and worried here, I do pray that interview goes well..

Sharifah insha'allah the AP will not be as long as they said, maybe just worst case scenario. And at least you know it's just to verify dates and stuff. There is no reason for a denial, that is what keeps us going, just knowing there is no reason to be denied (even though AP totally sucks).

We're all still here together for each other (F)
