I talked to the State Dept, explained the whole situation of interview, and of them keeping his Algerian passport, and of his French card expiring Friday. Final thing State Dept told me, All looks good, and also, they dont keep a passport if they think there is a real problem. They like to give them back, the same thing the woman who interviewed us said, I pray they are right!!! Im emailing embassy this pm if no movement on the Chronopost package today.

Also, I found out a U.S. embassy can not hold a passport of another country. Since our interview was in France, they can not hold another countrys passport such as my husbands whose is Algerian issued.

What do you all think???

I have to agree with what they said. I just find it unbelievable that they are so heartless to put you through this kind of unknown torture. My heart is really going out to you. I know first hand how it feels to have no idea what is going on.

Thank you so much for coming back to keep us informed. I know you don't know me well, but really there are so many here that are backing you up on this and are praying for you. (F)

Honostly Beth I think you actually want them to keep his passport so they can put the visa in it and although it's good you are being proactive, I think you are overreacting too soon.

What Im afraid of if they keep it, and his card expires, they will say, Sorry cant issue visa his Titre De Sejour is expried!!! cause U.S. embassy did not act in Due Diligence.

I understand (F)(L)

I think the question that you should be asking the consul is: If my husband does not get the visa by Friday, he will have to travel back to Algeria as you know his French residency card is expiring. He will need his passport back in order to leave the country. What is the procedure if the visa is not issued by Friday?

See what they say to that simple question and it might tell you alot.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I dont know Beth. Lets see what tommorrow brings... they'd better have an answer about the passport by then. they cant keep it hostage if he needs to go back to Algeria.

I've contacted USCIS/Washington DC, the lady who helped us with our petition when it was at CSC. She already responded back to me quickly as she always has done before. I told them of the lack of communication with the embassy, explained the situation with the passport and his card expiring, and also told of the was we were treated, felt like being judged by consular officer and of how rude she truly was.

I fear its over, why did God put us on this journey to end in heartache and alone?

Truly happy!!!
