Funny you bring that up. I seem to recall someone asking not to long ago about the measurments of the dividing window in Morocco to pass along the required paperwork to the interviewing officer.

I vaguely remember that. My husband forgot his tape measure when he went. :P

Let them separate us at the interview and ask away! We have nothing to hide. Our relationship is real... so I wouldn't worry about our answers. We have been open and honest with each other.

And honestly there are more important things I would rather be doing with my husband than out sight seeing. I am here to be with him, not act like a tourist.

You may think that they can separate you and you will be fine, but English is not your husband first language. He can very easily misunderstand their question. But it is up to you in the end. My husband and I were discussing how glad we are that we didn't have to lift conditions. If they separated us and asked us what color our toothbrushes are I would get it wrong. If they asked him what my favorite color is he would get it wrong. This isn't what makes our marriage real, but this is just a small sampling of what questions they might ask.

As for the tourist thing, I hope I didn't offend you. My husband and I were both tourists at places he had never been either. We went to Volubus and Saidia, which he had never been to either place. We had great fun, tons of pictures, and fond memories, and we spent the entire time together. Now that he is here the chances of experiencing these things are a lot more pricey, and there are still many places that we want to visit when we get the chance to go back.

But if staying home is your thing it's cool. Both my husband and I love going out.

Will there be pics of the family to show the CO? You showing up at the interview is fine but that alone may not be convincing enough. Esp since they don't sit you both down in a room and observe. He still will be interviewed alone. If it's anything like Egypt they do it through a bank teller type window and the CO is behind glass.

Paris is like that, I hate those glass windows!!! But will stand up there with him if allowed.

Best wishes Ally on your new journey!!!

you are sur eyou can get in there though right? That would be great if they let you go sit/stand up there too

Yes a spouse is allowed to attend, but you know what, I think I will make a on line appointment for notary service or something to show I have business there!!! Good thinking Lisa!!!

Actually, it is up to the CO if a spouse can attend. The CO might ask you a few questions but then will ask you to sit back down to conduct the interview. I know this because I was at my fiance's interview in Buenos Aires.

good point M4E, I was laughing at myself just the other day thinking about the toothbrush question at AOS... me: "uum, the one next to mine n the bathroom? hmmm whiteish maybe?"

its not... what city was he born in, or easy ones like that.

From everything I understand ,M4E knows what shes talking about in proving a case and having to fight

Stasshi I hope so, maybe them just knowing I attended will help in their decision. I wonder if NVC forwarded the 15 pound notebook of evidence I sent to USCIS? I not sure if I should take it all again to interview, or just the new phone bills and emails, etc.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Do they even ask the toothbrush question at AOS interviews? Or is that a myth? :D We were asked if we were still married and he was asked some of the questions on the app...are you a spy? are you involved in a terrorist organization? Etc. We both laughed along with the officer at those questions.

Ally, did you go site seeing on your first trip to Jordan? Do you have any pics from that time you could have Moh show at the next interview?

Honestly, I'd be royally pizzed if my husband didn't have the courtesy to take time off work and show me the sites while in Egypt. Sure there are more things than behaving like a tourist like visiting family and friends and getting to know how real life goes in his country. I saw tourist attractions and did lots of shopping and walking around with my husband and sister in laws but I didn't feel like a tourist. I felt like I was living a short time of my life like one of the family. I stayed in their home, I cooked with them, I ate with them, I watched TV and sat around joking with them. It was wonderful and I would be upset if I would've missed out on it. About privacy, when we wanted it, we got it. Do you think that real Jordanians don't go to tourist spots? I'm sorry but I feel like you're being jipped out of a wonderful experience. I think your husband is doing a great disservice to you by not letting you see his country. Most men would be proud to take their wives out to see all the sites their country has to offer.

ha! i dont know if they do or not but those type of questions are asked of some. i have a friend who got GRILLED during their AOS. questions about dinner meals the last week, things like that....

the toothbrush thing was amusing me the other day at any rate :P

Yazied was working 6-7 days a week but took off 2 weeks for my trip. We did some touristy things while I was in JO, like um qess which was amazing! we also did many everyday things like shopping and dinner and meeting with family ect. I was also lucky to be there during his aunts wedding party and got to meet the 3857668947 realatives lol

The last couple days I was there he wanted to take me to petra and the dead sea but I said next time, i want to relax and enjoy it with some lazy "us" days. I should have let him take me to Petra though! I wont have a choice next time, he says... we WILL go see all of those things. no argument from me now lol

Do whatever you like, thats what i say...but you'll probably regret not seeing those things later. Especially if you wont be having many trips home after he moves here.

My husband came over on a K3, our I130 was still pending at the time so we were the lucky ones that got to have both interviews ( I130 & AOS) For the I130 interview, as we sat down, the gal was positioning the video camera  i said wow you're going to record this?Oh yeah, we record everything. I'm like great, i'm already nervous, now i have a cam pointing right at me, this just adds to my nervousness. I felt like we are on Dateline or something. She interviewed us shortly together and then we were separated. She asked questions about our home, how many bedrooms, how many windows, do we have a garbage disposal and asked the name of my kids' teachers and the name of their schools. There were more questions but those ones stuck more out with me. At our AOS, we were waiting out in the area and we would see the agents call out peoples names but there was this one guy in particular that looked like he had a stick up his A$$ and that was out to get everybody, i said, oh please don't let us get him anybody but him, and guess what, we got him! I couldn't believe it. He was very formal and he just went over the AOS application and did that line of questioning about being a spy, terrorist, etc. and that was it. The funny thing was that we were hoping for this one agent to get cuz she looked very nice and sweet, we overheard her during our interview drilling this other couple, she was nasty with them! I looked at the guy that was interviewing us and said, i'm glad we got you and oh my, he actually smiled and said well everything looks good here, you should receive your approval notice within 30 days.

It's been nice to have USCIS out of hair but we will be dealing with them again when my husband goes for his citizenship.

We're at 8 weeks. They updated us the same status on DHL today which makes the 8th one. After reading Hot Guy's thread on how he's been in AP for three quarters of a year coming out of Cairo I'm a bit depressed at this point. I might be offline for awhile because I need to study. So don't be surprised if I'm gone for some time. I'll come back and check in and post the visa in hand thread but until then we're in Administrative Final Review. I just hope it's not nearly three quarters of a year like Hot Guy's.

Maureen - OMG - I can't believe you had to go through a Stokes interview!?!?! Fortunately, the citizenship process is completely different - he'll take his test, may be asked a few questions as to if you all are still married, etc, etc, and then he'll be on his way. Just make sure his English is solid and he's prepared for the 100 questions. :D:thumbs:

 You had to have an interview for the I130 even though your husband came in on a K3? I had no idea that was a possibility. That grilling happened at the Detroit field office???? Holy #######! That's a horrible experience, I'm sorry you guys had to go through that. Luckily our I130 got approved about the same time as the I129. Phew.

We had Officer Wong, a female, for our AOS at the Detroit office. I was so nervous but I was pleasantly surprised that she was so cool. She was a younger woman who had pics of her kids all over her desk, I had a good feeling she was gonna be cool right away. We didn't have an updated physical done so she kept our case open and told us if we got the physical done within two weeks we would be approved as soon as they got it back. We went the same day to get the physical and went back two days later to get the missing immunization. Interview was on July 17, 2008, we mailed back the physical and blood test results the following Monday which was July 21. By the following Monday we got the e-mail notice from USCIS and by the end of the week the PR card showed up. I was shocked at the speed considering how long it took for the visa. We filed AOS in April 2008 and were finished by end of July 2008.

OMG, We had Officer Wong for the I130, she was pretty nice, i felt comfortable with her. I didn't notice the pics of her kids, I was too busy staring at the video cam  We were expecting a chinese person..lol but yeah, we had to go thru 2 interviews cuz of the I130 was still pending, i filed that in September 2005 and finally approved in 2007. Can you believe that? Thank goodness for the K3!

We brought so many pics with us too and both times, they never even looked at them. I could have brought my baby albums and they wouldn't have known the difference. I had to lug all these pics with me to both interviews and at the AOS interview, i even suggested, would you like to look at our pics and he said no, that's ok, I don't need too.
