B&S come visit me here and let me know how your process is going. You were two days after my Husband's interview.

Tonight I looked up others out of Egypt and I saw that most of them that get told they are in final review get their visas in hand in a week. That would be between the 13th...14th...15th...16th...17th...18th...19th...and 20th I saw at the latests for us. As for AP I mostly saw that they get their visas in 2-3 days, 2-3 weeks or 6-8 weeks. We are coming up on the 8th week. I thought we were already on it but really we've almost reached it since the interview. They never did answer me if they found his passport but at least they didn't ask for it again. I'm on the fence about contacting my congressman yet. Yes we've had delays and they possibly lost his passport but we're not out of current time range just yet. I'm thinking to wait till the 20th and if nothing then hand my case over the 1st district congressman immigration liaisons and go from there.

I think thats a good plan, the 20th is only a few more days and at that point you can say that you are currently out of the norm or "trend" and the rep is more likely to help

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

well Flower we still gettin pertty much the same thing just a longer email, this is the last one and it was on the 15th..The case is still pending the officer's review. We will process the case to conclusion once that is completed. We sent a gentle reminder to the consular officer in charge of the case. I have called DOS before and she said to contact my congressman. Seems like when I do call they act confused for some reason with his case and 90% of them say they don't see no updates and never say he is in AP. I just called and she was lookin around and she said it does not say he is in security checks .....dont know they know this? I dont think he is in AP i think its AR and I think cairo is being slow and Monday I am calling the congressman. There is no reason for this..I am so sick of this ####### its unreal. He has nothing on him and I was at the interview with him we lived together 9 months out of the last year, wish they would just let him come home to me...

Sounds like a plan B&S. The 17th and 18th it looks like I'll have to take my paperwork up to campus and scan it for my local office. That way I have it ready to email to them next week when I may have to call them.

I can totally sympatise (sp?) with the VJ'ers out of egypt....i was so excited last week to finally get my package 3 after 3 1/2 months...only to have them send it back to me saying i'm missing I-864. Now what's really gets me about this is that i submitted the I-864W (which i know many people here on VJ do not have a lot of experience with) but it is basically a waiver for the I-864. I HAVE to file this instead of the regular I-864 b/c i was in america since i was 15 and have already worked more that 40 quarters AND have been married to my husband for 11 years and can claim all of HIS quarters also. The embassy staff should at least know what this form is, but i think they have no clue  So tomorrow i'm gonna resend the I-864W with a lenthy explanation and hope that they understand what the form is. BTW does anyone know any emails addresses other that the basic one that doesn't help u much...like to a supervisor or something. MAN...i've been here 5 years..feels like i'm stuck in quicksand.. :(

6-22-09 - Filed petition at embassy in Cairo

8-12-09 - Contacted DOS for info on petition...found out petition is filed incorrectly...

8-12-09 - Tried contacting embassy with new info...no response for 3 days..

8-15-09 - Made appt to resubmit petition on 8-17

8-17-09 - CO at embassy informed us that correction was made and petition sent to Athens for approval.

8-26-09 - Petition approved by Athens USCIS

8-28-09 - Petition mailed to Cairo by Dipl. Pouch via Washington DC.

9-29-09 - Petition arrive at Cairo....

10-12-09 - Package 3 arrived and also sent back same day...

11-10-09 - Package 4 arrived

12-22-09 - Interview date - APPROVED

12-23-09 - DOS says Visa Issued

12-30-09 - Visa in hand

12-31-09 - Enshallah arrive back home :)

They told me he was in final officer review on Oct 13 which I copied and pasted the email in this thread. I've observed in the past that DOS tells us one thing and the Embassy tells us another. In this case since they told my Husband & I the same thing then I'm going with that. I've called DOS three times since then but I can't get through and it wastes my minutes. The last time I called them I was on hold for 35 minutes when it told me it would be a 15 minutes wait. AP is for security checks so we're past that. The thing that concerns me is when they told him he was in final review they asked for his passport which he left with them since the interview nearly 8 weeks ago. He's been working at his clinic in Hurghada since then and hasn't asked for it back or anything. It's not like he is going anywhere anytime soon. They also didn't address my question of if they found his passport since they asked for it. Even with all this it does give us hope that his visa is coming. At the same time I am trying to not to hold expectations with them knowing their history "from this site". On the other hand from this site most recently they've been more efficient in their processing times and we're about to go outside that efficient range. So I am willing to contact a Congressman to get my answer. I've been very patient over these three years of waiting. My Husband and I are at the most loving point in our relationship ever. We've worked though a lot these last eight weeks and it's the best it's been and we've been through a hell of a lot together.

Wow 5 years and you're going through Cairo. I don't know you're full story but that really sucks! I hope they get it figured out and you let us keep knowing your story. (F)
