Not sure if this is better off here or in the NVC forums...

My fiance doesn't have the hardcopy NOA2 yet, but our petition was approved on Sep 9th. I called the automated NVC line today (12th) and entered our CIS case #, but was told that our case hadn't been received at NVC yet.

Does it typically take more than a couple of business days for the petition to go from the service centre to NVC? Should I try calling again on Monday or Tuesday to see if they have it, or are we better off waiting until NVC sends us a letter? With all these people getting stuck in AP, I want to try and track the process as much as possible so I can get an idea of when to schedule my medicals, etc. Plus I'm just bloody impatient

July 2007 - met Jesse at a beach party held by mutual friends in Long Island, NY

May 2008 - J-1 visa expired, had to move back to Australia

July 2008-September 2008 - lived with Jesse for three months in Staten Island, NY

March 2009 - Jesse comes to Australia for 3 weeks

April 2009 - Engaged!

05/20/09 - I-129F petition mailed in

05/22/09 - NOA1!

05/25/09 - touch

09/09/09 - NOA2!

10/01/09 - due to fiance's illness, we are abandoning pursuit of K-1 at this point. Packet 3 received from consulate but won't be returned.

K-1 cases aren't entered into the automated system, as they usually aren't there long enough. They are treated as expedites and are sent onward within 1 week—unless you have the misfortune of being selected for "additional processing," that is.

Call, press 1 for English, then press 5 to speak to an operator. Give your USCIS receipt number, and they'll be able to tell you whether your file's been received and, if so, the NVC case number.

Moving to NVC forum...

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

A week after Sep 9, call NVC at 603 334 0700 and then when you hear the automated voice response, press 2 for K Visas..press the number that corresponds to your Service Center, then type in your USCIS Receipt Number.
