I have travel 3 times within ONE year to see my now husband. Embassy in LAGOS, said they dont believe that our relationship is bonafide. They EVEN called me into the interview to ask me what kind of car he drives and even what time he leave for work everyday. They did not even look at the hundreds of dollars I spend every month on cell phone bills for the last 2 years. The smallest amount i ever paid was $250.00 USD. THEY DID NOT EVEN look at our evidence. We are now filing the I-130 and it was approved. i am not sure what will happen next. Can anyone offer any help please?

You may still run into the same situation for the CR interview. What exaclty did they state as the reason? Not bonifide??

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Use Ling che's NVC shortcuts. They did not even look at the hundreds of dollars I spend every month on cell phone bills for the last 2 years. Would have good if you front loaded the I-130. Since you didn't. I'd send additional proof of relationship to NVC when you send the necessary documents. Maybe the CO will see your evidence then.

I've never heard of any one doing that but you have to do something to get the COs attention. :bonk:

she just simply said she did not want to hear anymore from us. And that she felt this was an arranged relationship.

Take Haole suggestion and add information to the stuff for NVC for the I-130, hope it works out

Just wondered if the cellphone bill showed the numbers you called? Did you have emails, letters and chats. Is your hubby younger than you?

Making 3 trips should have been a plus.

Yes! I had original copies that listed the country and the number called. The simple fact is, THEY DID Not even look at any of our evidence. Only took 2 or 3 photos from us and then started asking the questions. I even had my airline boarding passes, if they even cared to look at them! :crying:

Thanks alot Mankind. But please if everyone can jus keep us in their prayers. I am sure everthing will work out fine. But I truly dont understand how they can just determine a persons life just by a 10 minute interview. and the idea of NEVER even looking at the evidence we have to office. Its not easy but WE WILL NEVER give up.

Hi Moniq,

I haven't been posting on the site for awhile. I've been seeing posts for Lagos and then read your post today and decided to post again. I too was completely appauled when just about the same thing that occurred to you happened with me and my husband. We were given a denial at the interview, our case being sent back to Homeland because of no bonafied relationship. I was just in awe that they couldn't see we were real and we'd been together for years. We made some mistakes, minor ones, but I thought they were human and would be dismissed.

Breath because many people who are denied do eventually in time get permission to live together. I know right now you just feel very hopeless and scared, and angry definitely at how much control one person can have over your life in just a few minutes.

Our evidence too was not even peaked at. That just fuels your anger and thought that it would be impossible for them not to see your relationship if they had bothered to look.

I don't know when this occurred - I would try to find out if your case has left Lagos. Now may be the time to get your Senator in your state involved, to get the case not to leave Lagos and reconsider another interview. If your case has left back for the US it will go to Vermont or California Service Center, unless procedure has changed in the last year and I'm unaware of it.

Your I-129 will expire, if not revalidated and it sits at a service center it is completely unuseable and the I-130 is the one to go ahead with. Some still have to combat the interview question on the I-130. You need to go over every minute detail of the interview with your Hubby and see if anything was misunderstood, or inaccurate compared to your approved petition. You will given the chance to submit evidence that proves your relationship is bonafied and any proof to prove their suspicion - whatever that is wrong.

I've heard senator's say that often if someone is denied it's to see if the couple will hold on through the rest of the process and keep on until the end. So hang in there!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I thought it was a nightmare from which I would wake - there are many it occurs to, many who in the end are now together.

Take Care,

~Afrilaskan Queen~

The fact that you travled there 3 times in one year is significant evidence that you believe you had a relationship. I would contact your congressman and senator first thing MOnday morning. You would have the same results with the CR1 without help from someone. Contact a lawyer too. Not jsut any lawyer one that has dealt with denial. There are some recomendations of good lawyers on the board.

Is there anyone on your husband side that has come to America? Family members? In the same way they associate someone from the middle east with a terrorist friend or family member they could associate your SO with someone who has committed fraud with the embassy.

There are Nigerian men here in American that make money fixing their friends and family up with American spouces. some do it for free for the share pleasure of bringing their country men over.

Africqueen,

Thank you so very much for your reply. Its really hard for me. And even harder to keep traveling to Nigeria to see him. Please keep us in your prayers.

Hi again Moniq,

When I read your responce today I remember my own feelings. I'm working hard to bring my husband home too and it's very costly - the cost of traveling and staying in Nigeria, being safe in a unstabe political environment, and also the phone bills - do I KNOW about the phone bills! I have a modest income, and had to save for two years to visit him again. It's not easy. With God all things are possible. I noticed others also suggested you contact your Senator, they can fight for you with people on levels that you are not able to talk to - I definitely hope you're able to get contacted with them. you're going to make it through this, one day at a time.

Take Care,

~Afrilaskan Queen~

Sorry MONIQ, I would have thought three trips would have been enough. There has been a lot of AP,AR and denials coming ouy of Lagos as of late. I have nothing else to add but, hope you get a break thru in your case soon!!!!!

I have talk to you a few times in the past and you were helpful . So I am really sorry to hear about your case . That makes me ever more worried since our interview is coming up next month and I have only seen him once . I would have thought 3 times would definitely have been a great deal of proof. I do hope things get better for you all and times passes by quickly until you two are actual able to be together everyday.
