Hi everybody!

I was wondering if somebody can tell me what I do when I arrive in the USA. I want to work as soon as I could, do I apply for my SSN before getting married or do I get married first, apply for my SSN and then apply for AOS and EAD? I would just like to know the order of how things occur.

Thanks!

GREETINGS!

1. SSN ( BUT MUST WAIT TILL NAME IS IN THE SSA SYSTEM).

2. ADVANTAGES:

- MAY OPEN JOINT ACCOUNT

- MAY PRACTICE DRIVING USING T.I.P. LEARNERS PERMIT.

NOTE:

MUST REMOVE RESTRICTIONS ONCE STATUS IS CHANGE.

3. EAD

- FOR A JOB!

4. I SUGGEST TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS CITIZENSHP IS BASED UPON THE DATE THAT THE GREENCARD IS ISSUED. AVOID DELAYS....THE SOONER YOUR APPLY ALL THIS DOCUMENTS THE BETTER!

5. IF MARRIAGE IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OF UPON THE GREENCARD ISSUANCE MUST LIFT STATUS ...

6. ONCE GREEN CARD FOR 10 YEARS IS ISSUED....VALID FOR TEN YEARS THEN ITS UP TO YOU TIF YOU WANT TO RENEW IT OR OPT TO APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP....(3 YRS FROM THE ORIGINAL TEMPORARY GREEN CARD IS ISSUED)

NOTE: # 4 IM REFERRRING TO AOS APPLICATION

You can apply for SSN and get married in any order, but you must get married before applying for AOS and EAD

A K1 can apply for an EAD Prior to marriage, in the first 90 days.. this is a non-renewable one. The category is ( a )( 6 ).

After marriage, you would file for EAD with or after AOS, as category ( c )( 9 ).. this is renewable. Renewals can be done as e-file (as can the initial filing for EAD, but must be after AOS NOA1).
