During this entire process USCIS, NVC, EMBASSY can ask you for ANYTHING they want at ANY TIME....

Boy were you misinformed, why would you not have EVERYTHING you need, just because they didn't inform you doesn't mean you didn't need it. My interview is coming up and I can't be there but I know one thing I am giving my fiance EVERYTHING we can possibly have to prove our relationship is valid.

Is it right for them not to notify you? No... Is it right to bring EVERYTHING you have just to make sure you have done everything on your part to get the visa? Yes! I wish you guys all the best. Good luck.

i understand now, i just hope they dont ask for anything else after this, i am so tired and worn out, really. ;(

A lot of us are, and a lot of things are unfair. Its a high price to pay to be with the ones we love. From a mother's point of view we make sacrifices so that are children will have. It is the same with this process. We have to sacrifice and do things in the name of love. Stay encouraged, pray to God and believe that things happen for a reason. When in doubt ask God for the answers you are seeking and it will come to you......

When my husband went to his interview he had a full photo album, all documents and so much stuff that the bag was overflowing. The bag he had was so damn heavy that he couldn't carry it without having to set it down numerous times and switching shoulders. It killed his back, but it was neccessary and IMPORTANT.

It is not the responsibilty of USCIS to teach you how to immigrate. It is not the USCIS that is trying to bring an immigrant into the state. They do not care if you fail. Only YOU care if you fail. If you do not ensure that you have done EVERYTHING that it takes to prove to them that you are legit then you failed yourself.

The USCIS is not treating you any different than they would treat anyone else who they believe needs to establish more proof. They are doing their jobs. Validation of your relationship falls into the most important part of immigration. The guides explain this...the people explain this constantly in these forums.

"THAT would look suspicious to me , he is my HUSBAND" <--- Most of us are married when we go to the interview. My husband was also my HUSBAND....... You honestly think that they care if you are married? That's not what this interview is for. Anyone can be married. The point of this interview is to prove it is a legit marriage...bringing wedding photos is quite frankly common sense.

Chalk it up to a lesson well learned and start gathing the evidence you need and do this as quickly as you possibly can. It willd delay things, but it can be repaired.

well said!

You guys are being kinda harsh, and there's a lot of "shoulda coulda woulda"s in this thread. What FJ needs is THE NEXT STEP.

The next step is to very carefully read over the paper you were given at the consulate. Is it a denial or a request for further evidence? Your first post made it sound like an RFE...

A request for further evidence is good news, because it means you simply follow the instructions for sending in your further proofs, and resume processing. I'm not sure what you can show for domicile in the US, maybe check with the DCF forum? It might be as simple as a recent bill in your name sent to that address. Or a letter from your parents (if you're staying with them) that they will host you when you first arrive.

There are many threads on here which have recommendations for proof of relationship - start off with a bunch of wedding photos as that's what they asked for specifically - make sure they are well captioned. Since you're living together, show other evidence that you've co-mingled your lives - anything where both of your names are on an account like with the bank, or your housing, etc.

If its a denial, you should check out the pinned thread in the MENA forum. I'm not an expert, but what I have read indicates that you need to act immediately to keep your file at the embassy and try for a second interview where you can present further evidence to overcome the initial denial. Make sure you speak to someone higher up.

Hey everyone. I feel so down right now. My husband had his appointment at the Jerusalem consulate and i went with him. We thought this was it... but NO. The officer who interviewed my husband asked him for pictures of our wedding.... my husband told him we have a few pictures in our phones that he can look at, and also he told him i have 3 pictures in my wallet. they did NOT inform us in the appointment letter that we needed to have proof of wedding pictures. So he did not get his visa, they gave him a paper saying they need further proof of our relationship, and they said I need to have proof of dominicle in the USA... i guess because i have been in Palestine for 1 yr now ??? what am i supposed to do? does that mean i have to LEAVE Palestine before my husband can get his visa? i am so sad and stressed, i do not want to leave without him. cant i just have proof of bank accounts and mail i get in the USA? can anyone help me and advise me what to do ??? please, any thoughts / tips are greatly needed !!!! i am so sad right now! the only good thing is that once we have the proof and pictures, we send it in automex (sort of like fed x) and that we don't have to go back because its really a hassle :crying:

!!! HEART BROKEN AND OUT OF HOPE !!!!

We are so sorry and sad for your disappointment. We do hope you get an approval soon, and our prayers are with you.

Your situation shows that photos ARE important evidence of a relationship. Too many times on VJ for some reason, there are adement and inflexible posters that like to try and convince the world that "Fotos are not that important because they are only secondary evidence." Or "We only brought in two fotos and they weren't even looked at, so you don't need to bother bringing multiple fotos to the embassy."

Your case tells us that fotos ARE important and can make the diff in getting an approval or denial, and is a wake up call for some folks out here.

THanks for your post, and best wishes for a speedy approval!

I must say, in reading your situation, it has changed my idea of what to send my husband with. We have been married for 6 years and going through Italy, so I was thinking that I would have him go with a few photos and our bank account and insurance information... However, I am not going to take any chances and have put an album together along with plane ticket receipts and old ship sign and sail cards to show I was onboard with him...

I wish you the best and hope that by just providing an affidavit and proof that you have a US residence along with photos and other marriage evidence that you will get your approval...

While it is good to be prepared, please remember that the consulate process is so specific to the different consulates that it sometimes seems to me that some go through a completely different process. Read the reviews for YOUR consulate (and if your fiance(e) isn't from that country also for the country where they are a citizen - ie Pakistani student interviewing in London) and plan accordingly. There are different regional forums for exactly this reason. The context for *ANY* advice about the interview should be which consulate, and the citizenship of the beneficiary.

Yes, I agree, but I think this situation goes to show that you should not take anything for granted. The consulate officials can ask for ANYTHING at ANYTIME so even where it says that you do not need all of this information USUALLY, it is better to be prepared and not need it, then to not have it and have to jump through hoops and delay the case trying to get it.

For your domicile issue, you don't have to go back before your husband, but you have to prove that you plan to return with him. Sign a lease with someone. Husband and I were going to be staying with my mom for a bit, but they won't take your word for it, so I made a lease with her. I also registered for school. Things I brought to the interview were bank statements and proof that I voted. The interviewer wasn't interested, so I just sent in that when I sent in the lease as well. I know some other people got moving quotes, or something to show that they are intending of leaving their spouse's country. Do a search for proving domicile (there are a few who had had to prove it), there are a few ways to do, and there is nothing specific they ask for, they just want some proof of anything you can thing of.

hey, first of all i would like to thank you for your help. I feel like i am being attacked or like im being treated like some stupid dweeb because of all this, and your post really made me feel better. they said they cant issue him a visa under act 221g..... i will go under that forum and see what i can find as help there. they said i need "documents indicating petitioners domicile in the usa"

thank god it is not a denial, i will need another few days to get all my documents together then send it all in, thank u so much ...

Sad story, but there's hope. You MUST know of some address in the US that you consider home, right? The address on your driver's license, tax returns, whatever. What address did you use in filing with USCIS? Your passport?

of course i have an address, i also had like 6 credit cards with me in my wallet that i never took out, like dillards, khols, macys, and so on, also... i had my drivers license and ALL OF THESE HAD THE SAME ADDRESS that i had given the NVC and USCIS... but he said i will have to send them because he has not time to look at them now, BS. thank u for your time. thank you everyone

Sometimes in the moment we also get flustered and dont think about what to do... Sometimes people have it in their minds not to listen... Regardless, you have a second chance, just get prepared with everything and dont let them shoo you out until you have proven your case! I think the photo request threw you and after that, when you did not have anything to show them, they tuned out... Just get prepared... Best of luck
