Question about the sealed medical envelope

I know the sealed envelope is given to the consular officer.

Do they open it and look inside? Do they question the beneficiary about anything or if the doctor gave them full clearance that is all they want to see?

Is it given back to the beneficiary to give at POE? And again is it opened in front of them?

My RW is a worry wort.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

The consulate opens and then inserts the documents in the immigration file, then the entire file (I-129F, DS forms, police reports, medical report) is placed in the envelope to be given at the POE.

Nothing inside the envelope is given to the fiance(e) at the POE... The POE opens the envelope and does their processing but the POE forwards everything to the USCIS

The folks at the embassy will open the envelope and the contents become part of your immigration file. They will check whether the doctor gave the beneficiary clearance and it is rare for anyone to be asked a question about the results during the interview.

After being approved, the entire file including the medical papers will be resealed inside a new envelope and you will carry that with you and hand it (unopened!) to the officer at the POE.

They don't give you the evenlope back once they open it at the POE? I thought they did or they gave you parts of it back. Hmm, I thought I had read someplace that you took the sealed envelope to the POE (unopened) then gave to the officer, they open it review some things and take parts of it, then return the rest to you. Can someone who has been through this reciently confirm this for me please.

Thanks!

You can use the links at the top of the page to double-check the POE Reviews.

The only time they "give the envelope back" is if they give it back to you pending your secondary inspection, at which point it will be taken from you. Generally, none of the contents of the envelope are given back to you. The entire contents are kept and become your USCIS case file. The only things given back to you will be passport, I-94, and customs forms. Some POE's will verbally remind you that you need to marry within 90 days, others will give you a "checklist" that gives you that information.

Make sure your S/O gets a copy of the DS-3025 from the medical exam and if she doesn't get one from them, see if the embassy will make a copy. She may need one on down the road for the civil surgeon once you're rolling through the AOS process. If she doesn't get one, no big deal, but it could make stuff a lot easier.

Ensure your beneficiary makes and brings with them to the States a copy of the DS-3025 (vaccination form)
