September 11, 2001. In memory of those who were lost. (F)

I was watching "102 minutes" on the History Channel last night, and it takes you through the actual sequence of events of 9-11 starting at 8:48 am. It was a beautiful september morning, then nightmarish. The look of doom on the brave firemens' faces as they were looking up at the burning towers getting ready to march up there. So sad. Plus, all the babies that were in the womb that morning are now 8 years old, and never knew their daddy. Truly, we must enjoy the day we have in front of us, and be kind to others.

We watched that show as well. Such a shame there is no proper memorial at Ground Zero, 8yrs later.

Yes, no memorial built yet. Much internal bickering over it for several years. Hopefully, they can have the memorial ready at the 10 yr anniversary, as everyone would expect it done by then. I read that the bad economy has put a crimp in financing the new freedom tower--not many leases for office space being sold in it yet.

What a terrible day that was. :( I still remember exactly how it felt when I heard about it. I was working with UBS in Frankfurt at the time and they sent us home an hour after the attacks. I spent all afternoon glued to the TV, trying to realise what happened, speechless, staring at the TV in disbelief.
