Hi all! We now have an NVC number (woohoo!) and it's time to figure out this whole IIN number bit... I know that my next step is to get the IIN number so that I can pay the first fee, and tried using Ling Che's shortcuts guide and called the NVC to get this, but the man on the other end of the phone said in a really stern voice that I had to wait until I received the hardcopy to get the IIN which would take about 4-7 weeks!

Do I need to wait 4-7 weeks before I can do anything? I also found the thread below stating that there's no way to get the IIN number. So am I to assume that Ling Che's shortcuts guide isn't accurate? :(

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you all and good luck :)

i also have another question in regards to this guide. in the section listing all the documents from the beneficiary

* Beneficiary’s passport biographic page (Photocopy)

The applicant and each applicant that is traveling together with the applicant must submit a photocopy of the biographic data page from the respective valid passport.

Submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s and the applicant’s individual family members’ valid passports.

This is the page that shows the applicant’s name and date and place of birth.

Note: Do NOT send the applicant’s passport(s) to the NVC, just the photocopy of the biographic data page.

my question is...what if my wife do not have a passport? heck, she never left her provience in her whole life for that matter.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...The_NVC_Process

"How to bring your foreign spouse...." is an outline of the process, whereas "LingChe..." is a more detailed step-by-step guide with shortcuts and advice on avoiding common pitfalls. There's a LOT of information in "LingChe" that doesn't appear in the process outline....and "LingChe" goes into considerable more detail.

As for which is more up to date...it appears that the outline is "...a little more updated" because Imaisha has been keeping it up to date. It also appears that Imaisha has taken the liberty of updating some info in "LingChe". Kudos and thanks for that Imaisha. We really need people to not only use the guides, but to keep them up to date as you do.

You need to call again and give them both of your email addresses. They *do not* give the IIN over the phone anymore (the shortcuts really do need to be updated).

Yes, the shortcuts really do need to be updated.

I don't understand why some people would rather complain about something, rather than simply correct it.

You're still active with your journey, and obviously active on the board. It would take just a little longer to update a Wiki, so that everyone can benefit from your knowledge and experience, rather than just post the correction/complaint here.

I didn't know there was a shortcut wiki - I only ever look at the post on the NVC forum.
