Hi everybody,

I just started the NVC process (don't even have a case number yet). Anyways, I see we need a military record for the beneficiary. Can they get a visa without this?? What if they cannot get a military record? If a person is required to serve in the military do they have to do so and reapply for visa after the serve??? Just curious on what everybody else is sending in to NVC. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think you will need it whether at NVC or the interview stage. when i got my letter from NVC after my case was completed, there was a list of stuff that supposedly was required at the interview if it was not given to NVC earlier. one of those things was a military record (thank God i got that earlier).

you will most likely need to explain why your hubby/fiancee didn't go to the military and show some kind of documentation in regards to what he did to delay it.

Timeline:

Sent in I-130 form: 01/29/09

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....

Hon, Mo my hubster, told me that your hubby should have a Military Exemption card like my Mo has.

Hey do you want my Mo to call your hubby about it???

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Hi girl, I talked to my husband and he will be getting his card Oct. 19. Apparently it takes 5 months or something and he applied to get it in June. I have his letter stating that he will get it Oct. 19. I just have to get translated. Hopefully this will be good. Thanks so much!!! Starbucks sounds so good right now! ha ha Talk to ya soon.

Ok, FYI, I called NVC and they said they dont need any military papers unless the beneficiary was in the military. So if anybody is wondering that is the deal. Sounds good to me!!!! ha ha Have a great weekend everybody!!!

this is me playing devil's advocate: is is mandatory for men to serve some time in the military in algeria? perhaps they may ask why he didn't?
