That is great for the new job! This is truly the land of opportunity!

I have a question. My wife should be here in the USA in 2 weeks. I am not looking for her to get a job right away but was wondering how/when do they get a Social Security Number and Green Card? We did the request for one on one of the forms. How did it work for you?

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

For the SSN you have to go to your nearest SSA office or apply online. For the GC, after you got married apply Adjustment of status for her to get her GC. It takes about 3 to 5 months before she can have it. Goodluck.

Hello Everyone,

My beloved wife has started her first job here in America. Its only part time to start till her pregnancy gets a bit less stressful.

Now she can pay taxes just like everyone else!

She is working for a local day care in the nursery taking care of 14 new babies!!

What kind of first job did your SO do when she/he first got here in the US?

Phil

my first job was a Receptionist in a Pre-school. After a couple of months, I requested to be transferred to a classroom setting as an Assistant Teacher. Last July I gave birth and had my maternity leave. When I came back I was given an assignment in a 2 years old class but I preferably working as an Assistant in a 4 year old class, which happens to be my current job.

Send her to Nursing School in USA

She will only need an Associates degree to be a Registered Nurse in USA.

Don't waste her time working at a dead end job, plan for her and yours future

Oh well...Im planning on hitting a degree in the future and RN is my target...

But right now, i am starting to go on with this job to get an experience working here in America...i want to start with the small job first, one step at a time...

But you know what, working in a daycare is not a dead end job as long as you enjoy what you are doing..

That's true. I was a preschool teacher in the US 4 years ago. I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to quit the job and go back to my county at that time.

Now I am on the US soil again as an immigrant and would love to go back to the childcare field, but I am now a pre-nursing student and will take a 6-week CNA course soon.

I thought I would better off working for children as a CNA and later RN.

You don't need any work experience to get a Nursing job. All the hospital want to see is if you have passed the NCLEX exam and you have your RN licenses.

Work experience can be perceived as a bad thing by potential employeers. They rather have someone with no work experience that way they can train and teach you how to do things the way they want it done.

Just to me since you have only been in USA a short while, and you are young, Might as well get your schooling out of way now, Cuz working in daycare may be hindering your future, cuz you could be working on your nursing career.

I hope you are aware, If you go to school in USA you only need a 2 years degree to be RN in USA. If you go to nursing school in PI, then you must have Bachelors Degree to work in USA as RN.

So as I see it, Going to Nursing School in USA you already have 2 years of school given to you, Might as well take the gift and do another 2 years and work on your career.
