What do you all use to send your applications in?

It's almost time to send my application in, and I'm torn. I can either use the document box, or I can use a USPS envelope. When I put my application in the box it still has room to move around and I'm kind of worried that things might look like a mess by the time they get to the Vermont Service Center.

So I've decided to take a poll and go from there. I still have a few days before I send my packet in, so as silly as this question might be, take a load off and answer a light-hearted question for a change(instead of those about the dredded RFE's, and other things that can go wrong. :crying: )!

So what did you use to send your application?

USPS Tyvek Priority envelope. Prepaid, online tracking, all received within three days.

Phil (Lockport, near Chicago) and Alla (Lobnya, near Moscow)

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Jesus....80 pages? that's crazy man. You don't have to send that much in.

Consulates in third world countries frequently don't look at a single piece of evidence the beneficiary brings to the interview, and will deny a visa based on "red flags" without giving either beneficiary or petitioner a chance to address it. Your best chance of getting these consulates to see your evidence before denying the visa is to include the evidence with the petition.

News flash...Canada isn't a third world country. I sent in the required forms, 5 pictures and some phone bills and itineraries. Done - approved!

After successfully sending in 4 separate packages, I would say the above items work just fine.

True. However, I didn't realize when I made my comment that he was talking about the OP, who also has a fiancee in Canada, and also is sending an 80 page packet.

Whatever. I'm sure the OP has his reasons. My package would have been 40 pages, even without front-loading the extra evidence. The divorce decree from my second marriage alone is 6 pages, and they'll send you an RFE if you don't include every single page. My fiancee's divorce decree is 8 pages, including the English translation.

So what did you use to send your application?

My package had a total of 184 pages (mostly emails & chat logs).

Plain manila envelope, just a little bigger than the 8-1/2 x 11" pages.

USPS priority mail, return receipt requested.

The USPS put 2 strong strips of tape saying "PRIORITY MAIL" that were good reinforcements.

It was delivered in 3 days and receipt was received by me 2 business days later,

followed by the NOA1 2 days after that, dated 3 days after I mailed the package.

The total cost was $11.35.

This is exactly what I did...

Got it Robbie...but the OP is from CANADA too! I would assume he'd be responding to the OP and not just shooting out random facts. Thanks for the comment though :)

I strongly advise against using Certified Mail for filing a petition. Delivery confirmation is enough. Making them sign for it is actually likely to cause a delay and makes you absolutely no more certain of delivery than the simple delivery confirmation you can get online.

I advice priority mail with delivery confirmation and I assure you I've used it for far more than four packages sent to USCIS all without delivery problems.

So what did you use to send your application?

It is a petition if you are sending it to the VSC. The application will be presented to the consulate by your foreign fiancee after the petition is approved.

Anything you do now will be disassembled by the VSC and put in the order they choose after it arrives. Anything more than paper clipping the appropriate associated doucments together and putting a binder clip on the whole thing will be a wasted effort. Make SURE everything gets in the envelope. Make SURE you send it with some eort of delivery confirmation and make SURE you use a personal check to track the case and get your case number long before the NOA1. The delivery confirmation and the case number on the cancelled check make the NOA1 superfulous.

I sent mine in a FedEx small box. It would have fit in one of their large envelopes, too, but just barely. So I decided for the box. I had put each form with its paperwork on a different Acco-fastener (4 total) and put a rubberband around all of them to keep them together. That's what they ask you to do on the uscis website.

I had 111 pages by the way. Lots of pictures, bank statements etc., also my husband didn't have his birth certificate, so we had to send in all pages of his passport :-)

Shoot for the moon - even if you miss, you'll land among the stars...

I'm not from Canada, and I'm a girl. Just letting you all know.

I'm sending in 80 pages because I am thorough. I'm not satisfied sending in the bare minimum. If some of you are, that's fine, but that's not who I am. I don't want there to be a single doubt in whoever opens the packets mind that Mathew and I are a legitimate couple. And it is only 80 pages because his phone bills show detailed calling. I included 3 of his phone bills and highlighted the calls. I also have a couple of his bank statements from when he's driven down here, plane tickets from him and I both, a letter, and then the application. It might not be 80 pages, it's probably closer to 50.

What you do and how little you send in is your business, how much I send in is mine. I think there's nothing wrong with people who want to send in exta. The officer might not look at all of it, or care about anything but the bare minimum, but I rest easier knowing that I put 10000000% effort into what I sent in. This is the rest of my life, you know!
