Hello All.. Just wanted to let you know I do appreciate this forum and all who have been helping others get more information about the visa journey. You are GREAT!

My wife is chinese and I am american and we have married in China and filed the CR1 with our attorney on June 1 2009.

It went to the California sevice center and we received the NOA1 on June 9, 2009. I went on the USCIS website to check for updates, but it seems 3 months have elapsed and I have not heard anything more. I contacted my lawyer and was informed no news is good news and it could be anywhere from 1-5 months sometimes for the visa slot to open for my wife and us to move to the second phase of visa.

Please help me guys! Pain being away from my wife hurts. We want to be together and start life.

I'm sorry that it is tough for you! Don't worry, they are adjudicating petitions faster then when we applied. It took 178 days from NOA-1 to NOA-2.

Be strong, there is an end to this long, daunting journey

Good luck.

PS - save your money, lawyers can't do anything to help or speed up the process.

Well I have to say...good for you. It seems you contracted the services of a lawyer who is willing to give you a realistic timeframe...many dont.

You have a way to go yet. Hang in there, make plans with your wife, talk of the future and keep yourself distracted with everyday things. It isn't easy, but nothing worth having ever is.

We all understand your pain, being away from a loved one....for a better word....SUCKS, but at this point you are in the lap of the USCIS gods. Keep an eye on the timelines of people who filed a CR-1 at the same time as you. It will give you an indication of when you are likely to be adjudicated.

Good luck, keep your chin up.

Things look as if they are slow in summer. Sorry to see that.

My March application was NOA2 in April. I have yet to understand why. I did make sure it was squeaky clean. But that is falrly useless info.

Regardless you are in for some more waits.

ENSURE that you look to go ALL ELECTRONIC through NVC to GUZ. If NVC gives you a GUZ 2009 ### ### case file number, call and correct them.

Read up on it at the GUZ websit, otherwise you get another 6 week delay, been there!

Sure, you can 'go electronic' for NVC Processing.

I'll slam you a PM in a moment with 'how to do'.

Warmest Regards...

Straight from the USCIS site: For immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, visas are always available, which means that your family member does not need to wait in line for a visa.

You should worry about how good your attorney is, since spouses don't have to wait for "visa slots!" Unfortunately you can't really take much action until five months have elapsed. Has your application received any touches???

Edited because I thought this was a current post and the OP has already received his NOA2! Oops.

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

MAN - those NVC clodheids -

Seems there is change of process for the last 5 weeks for 'normal DS-3032' stuff -

Of course the goal is to 'go electronic' with the proper 'opt in procedure' - but...

Somehow - within 14 days of being at NVC, for 'normal DS-3032 stuff' -

if ya call in, and get the NVC/GUZ casenumber, they'll email you some OTHER DS-3032 and generate an AOS Fee Bill.

It's all convoluted - you don't want to hang about with the NORMAL THING at all...

If you've sent in the OPT IN email - I suggest you call NVC , talk with a human about 'electronic processing OPT IN' .

Here's something useful :

Alrighty... The biggest problem, that I smell, is that most NVC tele-operators don't know squat about electronic processing at NVC. With that in mind, you have new role - that of personal coach for a government worker.

Be patient with them , on each phone call - remind them EARLY and OFTEN that this is for the NVC ELECTRONIC PROCESSING program, the consulate is GUZ, and YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS PROGRAM - it's not a 'normal DS-3032' - and I'd be happy to hold whilst you CHECK with your supervisor about the status of the DS-3032 for the ELECTRONIC FILING PROGRAM. It's ok - I'm happy to wait on hold whilst you ask the boss.

In a nutshell this past week I paid my AOS fee of $470 to the lovely government and have called the NVC to inform the intelligent people that I am going electronic. I will remind them ever so gently tomorrow morning at 8AM again. How soon can I expect the GZO #?
