...over the supposed generalisations...Which are true....

oxymoron......

I should have used quotes around supposed generalisations, but it isn't an oxymoron. Maybe you should study more.

Again, I'm not liberal. See that is the best part. You think because I'm attacking your intelligence or your lack there of, I'm liberal. When will you understand it's NOT ABOUT politics? Not everything in the world revolves around politics.

People like myself, just like to come here once and awhile to have a laugh.

I've studied plenty in my life and I'm still doing so here for a Masters degree currently...It's not about that either.

It comes down to thinking before writing, and seeing the spectrum. You pigeonhole yourself into an ideology or pattern of thought, and every time you post you just sound silly. That is what it comes down to. This isn't a serious discussion, it's hilarious to me in fact. While you type seriously and angrily to get your point across, I just sit here laughing.

I don't have time to respond to all my fans again this time, but I'll pick one.

I'm sorry, "progressive" which is synonymous with liberal. Perhaps you have a lot of book smarts, (which I do as well as I've been to college myself) but I also have whats called common sense. I don't attack everyone here on their spelling or grammar or word placement because its very childish. We've all made childish jokes here, but when you go attacking grammar and ####### like that, it proves you have nothing better to say. I'd be willing to bet my life savings that you're a lib. Prove me wrong.

95% of the comments on the OT forum are based in rhetoric, generalizations & just plain nonsense. Whenever someone introduces facts they are ignored or the source is questioned (regardless of the source). In fact you were guilty of that when I quoted Fox News & Rasmussen (both right leaning sources) in another topic. The bottom line is that most VJers (right or left) have their mind made up & whenever someone has an opposing view all they hear is "blah blah blah".

Very very true. Not only in VJ but you could even expand that to greater America. I have never met a group of people who absolutely refuse to listen to anyone else's opinion. People who will come up with the most ridiculous explanations to justify their bias and discredit facts. Both sides are guilty. Peejay could post a combined 2009 study from the UN, WTO, IMG and even unicef indicating that illegal immigration lowers the standard of living of those in the host nation and I can guarantee you will see yawn responses or not this sh-t again responses. But never any attempt for a logical discussion from those who disagree. Same deal with health care and guns, today it's the republicans who are giving examples of shoes being thrown or bricks being able to kill too. Tomorrow it will be dems doing the equivalent thing. End Result, America loses and continues to falldown the ranks.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

It's clear you did not read anything I said, which is a complete shame. I can help with that.

Obama is not my hero. My dad is my hero, actually. I have no American heroes and even if I did, it certainly wouldn't be a politician. I don't know any one well enough that is American to call them that.

If you are seriously asking why a president can't be straight with people then maybe you should lay off the politics for awhile.

Again, I'm not even registered to vote, and to be honest with you, wouldn't have voted for either of the D or R candidates any ways. So, everything I think and say on these matters is actually quote unbiased.

You need to understand the American psyche. Being patriotic to many here means wearing a flag pin, waving a flag, holding a flag and joining the Military. Whereas for Aussies and I am assuming Canadians, our nations earn their lover from potential citizens or new immigrants. Go to either Canada or Australia and say gezz I think we could change abc and do it better by looking a county Z, who is doing hij, and I bet the countries would consider it. Not in America, the first response would be what do you have against America. Get the #### out. This indoctrination from birth that the country is above everyone else, the envy of the world, has made the country very complacent and quite delusional to realty. Also why many refuse to accept that others are doing something better as it's almost some sort of mental programing clash.

The fact is that you're one of the more close-minded members frequenting the OT forum & that's saying a lot. You claim to have "common sense" but you rarely back up anything you say with facts & often make outrageous comments & claims. Moreover you call anyone a "lib" who disagrees with you (and I proved in detail in another thread that relatively few Americans are in fact liberals). Like I have said numerous times rhetoric, bashing & stereotyping are very poor substitutes for an actual viewpoint. You can't go around trivializing other views & slapping a label on them & then get your panties in a bunch when they take offense to it.

Prove me wrong.

Prove to you? WHO are YOU? The you I don't know on a message board behind a computer screen in an office in a town I don't know?

I don't give a #### about you and have absolutely nothing to prove to any one.

You're absolutely ridiculous.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

 The sad truth is nut cases screaming at the top of their lungs get more attention than individuals calmly stating rational views. You see it in RL (e.g. Rush Limbaugh) and it's definitely the case in the OT forum.

I agree. If it did, I would be on the next freagin flight out of here. Heck, I would never have come here. What I am referring to is the inability of people to recognize their bias and see past it. To acknowledge this person is posting facts while I am rebutting because I basically refuse to accept these facts. If you guys showed me study after study that Aussies are sheep ####, at one stage I have to accept it. Whereas, the stereotypical rebuttal ( as there is always a rebuttal) here would be along the lines of: but but, what about that time your neighbor slipped on a goat? Nah see your a goat ######. It's like great but it still does not discredit the sheep ###### facts. However, in the mind of the individual making the argument, since the neighbor may very well be a goat ######, that somehow negates the sheep ###### evidence.
