I typed it and got my fiance to sign and date the bottom.

I don't think the signing is a must, but it never hurts.

The signature is a must. It's an important document.

if they want a letter from me telling them they way we meet, does it have to be handwritten or can it be typed???

They do not need a letter. They need an answer to question 18 on the I-129f. If it does not fit in the space provided then you need to make an attachment. Just be sure the attachment is clealry marked as to what it is an answer to and that the heading contains the name of the petitioner and beneficiary so it stays with your file. It is not necessary to sogn anything as it is not a letter, it is an answer, but if you want to sign it, go ahead. They need only a brief description of how you met in person within the last two years (at least one time)

Sorry Matt, no it isn't. I ALMOST fit my description in the space provided, but not quite. I did an attachment and did not sign it. I simply clearly labeled it as an answer to question 18 and my name and Alla's name. It is not necessary to "sign" every answer to every question. It IS necessary to sign the I-129f, I also clearly labeled each other attachment as to the names of the beneficiary and petitioner. The ONLY things that need signature are the I-129f, the G-325a's, and the finacee letters of intent. Anything else is simply an attachment to one of those.

And, yes, the attachment can be handwritten as can any or all parts of the forms, provided it is legible.

I did the same, and I had attachments for pretty much every single form submitted. I didn't sign a single attachment, even though the I-129F instructions say you're supposed to (another in a list of "oh $hit" things I realized after sending the petition). I didn't get any RFE's, and the petition was approved relatively quickly.

I DID sign the forms and letter of intent. I also signed and notarized the infamous front-loaded "Timeline of Relationship", which I slipped in just for the benefit of the consulate in Ho Chi Minh.
