I am so nervous about sending this package I'm debating if I should get a immigration lawyer.

I understand I need to send the I-129F form and 4 copies each for him and I (G-325). Cover letter, intent to marriage, photos, e-mails but I'm confused what forms need to be completed after you receive your NOA2.

If anyone can help me that would be great to be honest I'm going alittle crazy

Sure go spend big $$$$$ on a lawyer, wel worth spending thousands of $$$ on someone that just proof reads ur work, lol!! Honestly, take some time and read the sticky at the top of the K1 forum and ask all the FREE questions you want!! Theh take the $1000's you would have spent on a lawyer and take a holiday!! Its really not that hard of a process paperwork wise-------its the waiting thats a killer!! Welcome to VJ, you can do it!! look at the Top and u see EXAMPLE FORMS!! too easy!! Welcome to VJ

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

By all means use a lawyer if it will make you feel more comfortable, not everyone is comfortable doing this by themselves.

That said - all a lawyer can do it tell you which form to fill out - you still have to provide all the information. So imagine paying someone a few thousand dollars to say to you - ok now tell me all this information and I will fill out this form for you - oh and get and pay for all the documents too.

This is obviously freaking you out a bit - doing the application - however you are thinking too far ahead. You haven't mailed your I-129F yet but you are worried about what forms come next.

My advice would be to stay focused on the I-129F right now. Once you have sent that in and it is being processed (which will take months) read the guide and then ask away! Lots of people here to help you with any questions you have after reading that.

Oh - and before even reading the guide - you might want to have a look at the K1 flowchart - it's a good overview of the process and you will then see what step is next:

Thank you I'm just being a worry bug

Don't waste your money on a lawyer! Most of us did this completely on our own, with no assistance except from VJ!! It is overwhelming at first, I know! But read the guides, ask whatever questions you need, and you'll be fine

I'm a worry wart too... but trust me, you CAN definitely do this WITHOUT a lawyer! As mentioned, read the guides, as ANY questions, use the 'search' tool.. and most of all, take it one step at a time! You'll have lots of time between stages to prepare for the next :)

Yup, a lot of us (me included) did this all on our own. If you have any questions after you have read the guides, feel free to ask :D

Also, I've seen people get an RFE (which is not 'devastating', but not good, and can cause delays) BECAUSE they used a lawyer. I've never heard anyone go through this process saying 'wow I really wish we used a lawyer'... but I HAVE seen people say 'I really wish we had done this on our own WITHOUT a lawyer'. lol

I got an RFE and my fiance used someone to do our paperwork.

It was just a simple missed checked box, but I still wish he'd trust me to do it myself.

Oh well, I'll just do my part extra well

And don't worry about Package 3 yet.

Just worry about getting everything done for the original packet for now.

You'll have time to worry about Package 3 when you're waiting for your NOA2.

I got an RFE after I spent three grand on a lawyer. He didn't tell me I'd need my long form birth certf. Immigration lawyers are really there only to help people who really need legal help..they suck at regular paper work and knowing the actual laws.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

When do you have to send in the birth cert. and a long one??

You bring them to the interview (the last step before getting the K1). Do you have the long version?
