Kiev Medical Cost

I was reading the guides for the medical exam for the Kiev Interview and it states that medical exams should not cost more than 125. Is this a variable fee? What is covered in this cost?

Dave,

If I remember correctly, we paid 120.00 for Nadiya's medical in Kiev back in April. It covered the X-ray, full medical, a copy of DS-3025 and the envelope we handed over to immigration at JFK.

Hope it answers your question.

Joe.

For adults it is $125, for children under age 14 it is $110. It is not variable. They do a chest x-ray, some blood work and a fairly brief examination and a few questions, not much else. And as Alla says to all the fiancees that ask her..."No, they do not want to see your keeshka, they want to see your $125" LOL

Forgot to mention. YES, it does cover the DS-3025. She should bring her vaccination records with her. Thanks, Joe :bonk:

Thanks all. It would be nice if the Embassy papers had used differently wording and just said it would cost this much for this age range and this much for that age range.

The consulate does not co-ordinate much with the clinic. The consulate for example, has stopped processing visas on Friday's due to lack of applications this year. The clinic has had a slow down down also. So they begin closing on Wednesdays. Brilliant. So if Oksana lives outside Kiev and you wanted to do the back-to-back medical/interview thing, don't try it for Wednesday/Thursday or Thursday/Friday.

The consulate negotiates a "maximum" to be charged with the clinic which is a separate business (but exists only to do these medicals for USA/Canada/Australia visas) They raised it from $100 to $125 last fall, around September and as of June the clinic was charging the full $125 for adults.

Oh, in case you didn't already know, the fee must be paid in CASH.....US dollars only. The visa fee must be paid in CASH...Ukrainian Hryvnia only at any Procredit bank in Ukraine. Give them your NVC number and they will give you a receipt when you pay.

This does bring up another question. Is the Medical good for a specific amount of time? We are looking at seperating the medical and interview about 2 weeks?

Right. Vika did the medical a week before I arrived, so as to limit the possibility of a time crunch somewhere. She took the overnight train to Kiev twice in two weeks - if that isn't love....
