I went back to watching a movie. Last I heard they arrested 6 people.

A Mexican plane carrying American, French and Mexican passengers was hijacked Wednesday from an airport in the resort city of Cancun on Wednesday and flown to Mexico City, where the passengers and crew members were released shortly afterward.

The Mexican government released a statement saying the situation is "under control." Earlier reports were that the hijackers had explosive onboard the plane, but Mexican officials announced that that was not the case.

Six men were detained, a spokesman from Mexican President Felipe Calderon's office told FOX News. There were 112 people aboard the plane, three of them believed to be Americans.

The hijacked AeroMexico plane, a Boeing 737, landed safely and was met by Mexican security forces on the runway.

The hijackers, reported to be of Bolivian descent, had threatened to blow up the plane unless they were allowed to speak to Mexico's President Felipe Calderon.

Calderon was at home at the presidential palace and did not consider meeting the hijackers at the airport, according to Mexican television sources.
