I'd just add that even if you don't have any problems at the border trying to do what you're doing, keep in mind this could all be reviewed at an interview and you could have a huge problem if any of this is documented. Many of us have had problems from the Consulate for reasons that weren't even valid, but if you're trying to tell your interviewer that you didn't plan on staying that long but had 2 weeks in Canada over a year period you could be staring at a lifetime ban or a waiver of some kind. I would only suggest you tell the 100% truth at the border and go about this the right, legal way. Good luck!

That is a really good point.

They ask you exactly how long each of your visits are on your your K1 application and also at your interview. Seeing such long, consective visits on there will definitely cause them to notice. At me interview they asked me "What the longest time you've ever spent in the US". So I would definitely be wary even if you have no problems crossing, it may come back to haunt you, or it might not.

Yes and they also ask you at the interview if you've ever been denied entry to the US, this doesn't necessarily hinder getting the Visa though! But they do ask, and you have to be honest (if you ever were or are)

I was just thinking, that the last time Gene and I entered Canada anyway, they swiped our passport at the border, and there was stuff on the screen in front of them. Isn't that why the whole electronic passports came into play? I would think that at some point, that it will show entries and exits if it doesn't do so anyway. I know not all passports yet are electronically marked yet though. Just a thought.

Well that is just the point. You CAN'T be a "visitor" if you are spending most of your time there.

Now, even if we establish that it's 6 months PER visit, there has still got to be some sort of guidelines, whether they are shady or not, that if you are spending more time in another country other than your own, and have nothing to tie you to it, you are no longer a visitor.

Just saying.

I found this on the cbp site

"The burden of proof that the Canadian citizen is not an intended immigrant (plans to make the U.S. their primary residence) is always on the applicant. There is no set period of time Canadians must wait to re-enter the U.S. after the end of their stay, but if it appears to the CBP officer that the person applying for entry is spending more time over-all in the U.S. than in Canada, it will be up to the traveler to prove to the officer that they are not de-facto U.S. residents. One of the ways to do this is demonstrate significant ties to their home country, including proof of employment, residency, etc."
