Greetings Everyone,

My poor sweetheart is so sick from her pregnancy. I know in my heart that its almost over now cause she is just finishing her first trimester but it is so painful to see her so sick. :crying: She spoke to her mother and sisters about how sick she was and they all said that they were also very ill in their first trimester of their first pregnancy's.

I guess maybe there is some genetic issues for the sickness cause many women never have any illness and some are so bad they end up in a hospital. Seems like Shirr is getting hit pretty hard.

How did you survive your first trimester?

Was it really bad or did you just sail through it?

Did you have the same problems on your second child?

Just looking for some thoughts from all who have gone through this before.

-Phil

This is my first pregnancy. I was constantly nauseous throughout my first trimester, although I never vomited. Eating bland carbohydrates like crackers helped to control the nausea, for me. Thankfully, the nausea stopped around week 16 or so. I hope your wife starts to feel better soon.

I'm not sure if it's genetic or not. Neither my mother nor my grandmother experienced morning sickness with their pregnancies (and as a result were not all that sympathetic to mine!).

If she continues to be severly sick into her second trimester and is unable to gain weight, it's possible that she has hyperemesis gravidarum. But being sick in the first trimester is very common.

i'm in my third trimester...actually last 3 weeks of pregnancy...and my first trimester was really bad...i didn't have an appetite for anything...always nauseous but couldn't vomit, couldn't stand most food etc.

to help with the whole process, both of you can search on the internet for what the normal symptoms and there are countless pregnancy sites she can sign where she can find help with food, symptoms, see the progress inside her, etc

...or buy the book "what to expect when you're expecting" my sis-in-law bought it for me it answers a lot of questions for you when you don't have a lot of people around that you can ask, and it covers EVERYTHING..

for now though, you can buy unsalted crackers so she doesn't starve herself and a ginger drink, this combination worked for me.

good luck and god bless!

I know how that feels Phil. MY pregnancy was so bad, I lost almost 15 lbs just because I could not keep anything down after I eat, especially. I was salivating most of the time, sensitive to smell and scents, I even hated my bath soap and shampoo and conditioner I have to change all of it to unscented. I dislike a few people all of a suddn... It was awful and a lot of it is because of the hormones. I keep throwing up since I was 2 weeks on the way until I was about 6 months. I only started eating rice again when I was already 5 months pregnant. Kinda rough, but my mom told me she was the same with my brother too. The second pregnancy was not as bad. Tell Shir to hang in there. It's all worth it in the end. :) Congrats!

Oh yes, the salivating is driving her crazy!!

She also lost her taste for rice. I think this was the hardest part. Shirr really loves her rice. We have changed most everything to unscented now. She hates the house cause it 'smells bad'...

She has not developed any dislike for any people so I can be greatfull for that.

oh, she says that toothpaste smells really bad.

It seems that almost everything tastes really bitter.

Even something as basic as an antiacid... and her heartburn is driving her to tears... We got some sample pills from the doctor that really helped her but the insurance company would not pay for them until we tried everything else cause they were 'too expensive'...

I expect by the time we try everything else she won't need them any more... which I also suspect is the motive behind the insurance company balking at paying for them...

I can't stand it, the Pinays get pregnant too easy

Once they tell me they are pregnant, I hop a plane and head to another city. I probably have a litter of kids scattered thru out the Philippines

Thank God, I can love em and leave em.

Hey, San Miguel, how goes the bass fishin', bud? Any pretty largemouths lately?

Well you did like so many in the past did. Brought her over her, got her pregnant.

I think a girl needs about 1 year to transition from PI to USA without having to mess with having a baby so soon after her arrival in USA

I had a smooth pregnancy last year. I never experienced morning sickness, I was always hungry but didn't crave for anything in particular. I felt like I was not pregnant at all because everything was the same. My ob-gyne said it happened to some pregnant women. I always wished I experienced the real "pregnancy" but the way you described your wife's situation, I'm glad I didn't. Goodluck to both of you and congrats in advance.

Congratulation first to u both.. I am pregnant now.. I am in 2nd trimester.. It's normal if she experience like that. morning sickness..

In my experience, Small vomiting, but i can still tolerate. I don't like the strong smell like perfumes.. She will overcome that soon. once she will get in 2nd trimester..

What do you mean it's hard to get pregnant.

Since birthcontrol is frowned upon in Philippines, and girls are told they will become sterile by using Depo shot or Birth control Pills by Philippines doctors.

In my experience it seem like once a girl arrives in USA, and in less than 8 months they are pregnant.

I reason this to they have nothing to do during the day while their husband works, and they sit home waiting for Green card and or driver licenses and or work permit.
