Hi everyone. Not good news here. My fiance had his interview today at the Lagos Consulate. He was put in Admin review. Now, he read me the letter and he didnt read a reason just that was under review and they would email or call him within a few weeks to a month after they complete the review. He is going to scan me the letter later after he gets closer to home. But I do want to share this with you guys what royally pissed me off (sorry). We met through a friend of mine whose is married to a guy there, who is Abbey's friend. Long story short, we no longer communicate with the couple as they caused some issues in the past and we decided it was best that we dont associate with them. It was related to stupid childish issues such as jealousy on my former friends part related to my relationship with Abbey versus her's with her husband. Anyway, I know they filed a few years ago and was denied and they wouldnt really tell us why. Only something about a co-sponsor for financial reasons. So, today the officer asked Abbey who Brenda was (my former friend). He told him who she was, the one who we met through. He then asked Abbey was her husband in the states yet. Abbey told him he doesnt think so as they were having some type of problems with filing. Then the officer asked him if we decided to get married because they got married. WHAT THE?!?. These people were married way before we even met, by at least a couple of years. And their relationship should have absolutely no bearing on ours. People cant meet through a friend anymore? Should I have lied on my I129 when it asked how we met? Should I have said the net? What kind of craziness is this? The officer didnt even ask Abbey to see any of our pics, emails, phone records, chats. The only question he asked him about us was I married before and Abbey told them yes I was married before. The officer then just gave him a peice of paper regarding the Admin review. I have contacted my senators office who helped me before when my case was at USCIS. They are going to check into this.

Has anyone ever been put on Admin Review in Lagos and came out a winner so to speak. My head is pounding so hard right now. Im so frustrated. I tried to call the Embassy and of course they never answer the phone.

Please trust that this will become common practice. AR or AP are interchangeable terms. They will do a closer look at submitted documents, verify them with local agencies and possibly do home/work visits.

You are looking at anywhere from 4-8 months. My husband and I were in AP.

You should not have lied. But if something funky came back with your friends husband, they might associate it with him. But their relationship has no bearing. Fraud country requires more checks.

Sorry to hear your news. I know this has been a difficult process for you. My heart and prayers go out to you.

OH, yes .. sorry and your Congress person can not do anything to help you.

Be thankfull that it is ap and not a denial.

Oh, I didnt lie on the app. I was being sarcastic saying would they have been happier if I would have lied and said we met on net instead of a friend. I was honest on the app and listed we met through a friend.

I spoke to my fiance again. He was telling me more about the questions asked, etc. He then clarified one question the officer asked him that I posted earlier. It's worse than what I thought he said the first time:

Then the officer asked him if we decided to get married because they got married.

The officer actually asked him if we had decided to get married in the states because our friends married there and the husband was denied- so in other words we were trying to get by in another way since that way didnt work for them?!?

That idiot! We decided to do the fiance visa and get married here so my sons can be present.

Dont worry much about it cause if they were going to deny your case, they would have done it on the spot; they are going to check to see the status of your previous case at USCIS and maybe additional checks.

I just wanted to wish you and your fiance a speedy AP. I know its heartbreaking, but its better than a denial. No way you could have known that this would come up in his interview. (F)

For the benefit of people who read your post, I want to say that I think it is a good idea to not involve other people in your visa application process. Such as when explaining how you met on the I-129F there is no need to mention someone by name (descriptors such as "mutual friend" are enough). And when providing pictures, select pictures only of the two of you or those that include immediate family members. You never know if a friend (or even family member) may have a reputation (repeated applications, findings of fraud, etc) with the officers at the consulate. I know these recommendations seem ridiculous and overly cautious, but after seeing many other people post their stories, I think they are probably good guidelines.

JamaicanJNR- You mentioned checking on a previous case at USCIS? I have never filed any type of petition before this one. Are you referring to when my case was at USCIS?

Reeses16- I agree. Dont list anyone's name.. ever. I wasnt thinking anything at the time about it. I guess cause my mind never went there thinking anything is fraudulent. I spoke to a friend last night who reminded of how they could be thinking and it made alot of sense. Seeing how when one gets a green card they can petition for family. My former friend and her husband applied for a visitors visa a long time ago- it was denied of course. Then she went there and married the guy. They then applied for a spousal visa- denied. I dont even know which type they applied for such as K3 or CR1. That is how little we knew about their case. So my friend suggested they may be wanting to verify some info regarding my fiance's relationship with the guy. Making sure he isnt family or whatever. The officer did ask how did he know her husband and he was honest and told him that he is just a family friend. Nothing more. We dont even associate with them anymore. I emailed the embassy and let them know this. Also, the officer asked about me just coming once to Nigeria. My fiance corrected him and said that I have been twice. I went back in March of 2009, after we filed. He said the officer then seemed to get "soft" and asked him could his family verify this. My fiance said of course. We were with his family and they love me very much. The officer wrote down the dates the I came the second time but didnt ask to see any proof of it, like pics, ticket stubs, copies of my passport stamps. He had my fiance fill out a paper with familys and friends names, addresses, and phone numbers on it.

I understand things a little better now, but it still throws me for a loop having to go through all this drama all probably because of someone else. Geez...

Im feeling okay today thanks to everyones responses... Thanks everyone...
