CRBA Question

Hi:

My wife just had an unusual experience applying for our CRBA. We met for the first time in May 2008 (been chatting since Oct 2006), got preggy that trip, married in August 2008, applied for I-130 Jan 09, Baby born Feb 2009 Applied for CRBA in July 2009, just had CRBA interview Sept 3.

Our application was perfect. We submitted lots of doctor records, baby was boirn within 2 days of due date, I attended doctor visits plus I was present for 3 weeks at the birth. baby was definitely conceived during my trip, baby looks very much like me, etc. Unfortunately, I could not attend the interview as our I-130 interview is Sept 28, and I will be at that interview.

The CO seemed very positive and implied that approval would be forthcoming but they wanted 2 items.

The CO asked for proof of our relationship prior to conception and he rejected our birth certificate from NSO. so - we submitted a new birth certificate and as much documentation of our relationship as we had prior to May 2008. We had some letters my wife sent me via postal service with postmarks (12/2007 birthday letter/card, 2/2008 valentine card+letter) a few emails and some myspace messages, a plane ticket i bought my wife to visit her parents in 10/;2007 + email, and some phone records. However, neither of us started logging our chat sessions till about 3 months after conception and we did almost all of our communication thru yahoo chat and phone.

We submitted the evidence Saturday via Air21. Will they call us with a decision ? Should I call them tomorrow ???

If we were asked to take a dna test - how long would that delay our application ???

Thank you,

Dolly n Hoot

PS Just purchased my ticket to Manila - leaving Sept 20th - soooooooo excited to see my wife and family !!! and so excited for our interview

I don't know of anyone who has posted how long this can take? I'm sure it will take time. It's not that unusual if your 'proof' is lacking documation.

Tests Conducted Abroad: If parents decide to submit to DNA or parentage blood testing to be conducted by a foreign facility or a facility not on list of accredited laboratories, the laboratory must submit its credentials and testing criteria to the U.S. embassy or consulate to ensure that it is comparable to the professional standards of the AABB and the joint AMA/ABA guidelines. Procedures for drawing and shipping the blood samples would be as described above, following specific instructions of the testing laboratory, under the auspices of a physician/technician selected by the U.S. embassy or consulate

The test would be for you, the US citizen and the child, and can cost $400-$600 ea. All expenses must be borne by the U.S. citizen parent(s), including shipping costs, and must be paid in advance.

Arranging for Testing: Testing can be conducted in the United States or at a laboratory overseas. The laboratory conducting the tests should send the test results and an interpretation of the data to the U.S. Embassy directly. If parents choose to have DNA or parentage blood tests conducted in the United States, the drawing of the blood samples and the conduct of the tests must be in accordance with the joint AMA-ABA Guidelines and the guidelines set forth by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), 8101 Glenbrook Road, Bethesda, MD 20814, http://www.aabb.org .
