Debate Subforum within OT

Just throwing the idea out there. What if we had a specific Debate Subforum within OT which could be moderated and scored based on things like:

  • Sticking to a specific point and on staying on topic
  • Showing good sportsmanship and general civility
  • Citing sources when making claims
Debates could be limited to two people - the initiator and the challenger. Each person would have a limited number of replies along with a closing argument. Then the moderator could tally the score and decide a winner.

I think it could be interesting. :)

No offense, but it sounds like you want to build a ballroom in the middle of a pig sty.

I guess if you are part of OT you can say things like this and get away with it - where is the outrage and the sneaky little comments??

Anyway, I like the idea, think it would be interesting to read.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!
