Have EAD - Do I need SSN right away?

I just received my EAD card in the mail today and have my interview the beginning of October. I am applying for adjustment of status after entering the Georgia on a visitor visa from Canada.

Now that I have my EAD, do I need to get a SSN to get a job and drivers license? I do not have any terms attached to my EAD.

most likely yes, it is a good thing to get the SSN as it allows you to do things such as what you mentioned much more easier.

I was looking here: http://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/whatyou_need.htm Is this the correct area for what I need? It says I need to fill out http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/81807.pdf ? I'm 27 and it asks for my living/work info in the past 10 years... I've had a LOT of jobs and moved a lot so I can't remember it all. I was lucky to remember the last 5 years needed for my AoS forms, lol.

I see here http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10515.html that maybe I don't need to fill out that form and just need my EAD card?
