I miss proper bacon so much, I'd sell my granny for a back bacon and egg sandwich right now.

I just sprayed coffee all over my keyboard. You kill me, girl.

Whoops....sorry camie :D

I wouldn't really sell my granny. She makes amazing bacon and egg sandwiches. She feeds a mini bacon and egg sandwich to her cat every sunday morning.

I'm just so bloody jealous the cat can get his paws on one and I cant.

Gemmie - I'm kind of looking forward to a hot christmas! Our apartment is on a lake and I am thinking about getting the BBQ out and doing some steaks, then going down to the pool :D It'll be soooo weird.

I am so going home for christmas next year though. I hate cooking.

It'll be John's first sunny Christmas as well. We'll probably do BBQ and swimming, then park across the street from Disneyland and watch fireworks.

I'm leaving the UK in December, and going to the US - I'll give you all a wave as we walk past each other in opposite directions

We aren't really counting on it - As we'll just be applying for AOS towards the end of October, probably won't have AP in time - certainly not in time to get reasonable air fares. + I have no vacation days left, so there would only be one week...Also I was there last Christmas (and the whole family in Germany for 2007), and I think my sister is really looking forward to a "normal" Christmas at home this year :)

Funny - my husband always complains about the bacon & the cheese while he's here...I thought he was being overly-critical, but now I'm not so sure.

My first-ever trip to England is coming up in December, so I guess I'll find out first hand!

Have you tried Sourdough (California style)? Not sweet at all...the perfect bread for toast. Makes the best cheese on toast, specially if you have English cheese.

Ooooooo! Thanks for the tip on the sourdough! I have tried Potato bread but I hated it....but I cant wait to give the sour dough a go:D

The closest to English Cheese I have found is the Vermont Cabot - Hunters Favourite....the extra sharp is the closest i have come to a medium cheddar and is actually really nice!

And no pothergavel....it's definitely....mmmmmmmarmite ;-)

I'm making my mum bring over Salt and Vinegar chip sticks and some marmite at christmas, the best gifts an english expat could ask for :D

Costco had some english cheddar, don't remember the brand but it was pretty good. They also have an Irish cheese that was pretty good, kerrigold I think it is. Hope you like the sourdough. It is a bit chewy but I love it with cheese, toasted..yum or even to dip in a cheese fondue. I haven't tried marmite, I liked pickle though.

Interesting to see how you're all missing Blighty so much. Is it just me that, after living in the States for the last 6 months, and enjoying everything it has to offer, wouldn't go back home in a hurry if you paid me?

Serious question.

I would not go go back home to England if you paid me or in a hurry. Im with you so happier here.
