I would go as far as to say that Mrs PG is missing the times we spent in England more than me.

John LOVES Southern California, meanwhile I'm the one who misses England. Life in SoCal is awesome ... but it's completely different than life in Colchester and Brightlingsea, where we spent our time. Life there moves a little slower, and people are a bit more quiet and down-to-earth. Total strangers were friendly to us as they walked past with their dogs/families. Everyone walks. I loved pub life, having a shandy with my mother-in-law, hanging out with some great people. Camping at the beach. I loved using public transport. It was Summer, so we were spoiled by great weather (John says wait until we go in the dead of winter, then see how I love it - LOL!). Even doing the washing up after my MIL's Sunday roast was special ... I just love her so much. John and I were driving around in Hollywood the other day, battling people and noise and traffic, etc., and I was so grateful to have a great "happy place" for my mind to wander to!

We're both also missing England and if it weren't for all the money we already spent to come to the US, we'd move in a heartbeat. Planning on moving after my husband becomes a US citizen. We're still young and are looking to raise a family there. We're headed back to England for Dec and we can't wait, it will be over a year and a half since my husband's been home and close to 2 years since I've been. Missing family and friends more than anything followed by the food and the slower life style. Feel like we're always moving here.

I'm not in too much of a hurry to go back. We have a gorgeous home here on the Lake in Michigan. My friends & family are all keen to come here for holidays so I'll get to see them that way.

I do miss having a Friday night chicken tikka balti from the takeaway though!

Now that is a problem. I haven't found a single decent Indian restaurant in this neck of the woods.

Aww I miss Colchester! Paul loved Colchester when my parents and I took him there, and I pretty much grew up in my dad's garage office on Cowdray Ave, and would walk into town from there, although not walked that long way for years O_o LOL

Paul and I headed off to LAX tomorrow.. nothing new there for him as he works there but the reason for the airport venture.. We're flying out tues afternoon to England! going to spend 9 days with my folks in Braintree and meet up with friends where I grew up in Chelmsford. My folks have a boat out in Brightlinsea so I know where one of the more sunny days will be spent haha. anyway off to go finish packing, and compile the rest of my wants list for stuff to bring back

Same story here (well, maybe not the "still young" part ) We're not doing anything until hubby has his citizenship!

It's been just over 3 years since we moved here and we are just getting ready to have our first visit back in late October. I'm so excited - we're probably going to gain about 10 lbs since we're planning our whole holiday around food. (curry, fish'n'chips, chocolate, cheese....)

Yes, this is what all of our cold weather relatives do - it was 80 degrees F on Christmas Day one time!

While I'd welcome his family for Christmas, unfortunately I don't see it happening often (if at all) since 5 or 6 people would have to travel here vs. just the two of us travelling there.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas if it wasn't cold. Here in MA, there is usually absolutely loads of snow. Although I hate having to shovel the driveway so much, it makes it so much more festive!

I would also love a proper bacon sandwich. Or a proper curry. Luckily, we found a Wagamama near here so we can always get Chicken Katsu curry.
