Hi all, Just wanted to say hello. Returned yesterday from spending 10 days in England with my fiance and I loved it. Met his family and friends in Chatburn, also traveled to Nottingham and York. He introduced me to proper bacon, a bacon butty? and I had crumpets which I absolutely adore. I think I could eat crumpets, proper bacon :) and cheese every day for the rest of my life. Can't wait to go back again. :luv: Have a great day. Victoria

I've been the the states (Arizona mainly) quite a few times, and although I like the bacon there... it's not as nice as home! (and don't even get me started on the cheese! lol)

Glad you enjoyed your time over here.

Kris and I are going to visit this coming Feb. I've never been and I can't wait to go. I'm afraid I won't want to come back though! We are both eager for when we are able to move back. On a side note Kris was so happy he actually found a store that sold his haddock.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

You're gonna love it, I promise you. I shed tears all the way from Brightlingsea to London on our way to Heathrow (bound for home in SoCal) ... I enjoyed myself more than any person should, anywhere. LOL! The great thing was, I was with my now-husband, so I got to skip the "travel guide" experience and live like a local, using public transport and walking trails, going to pubs with John's mates, camping at the beach and hanging out at my in-law's house. I'm ready to go back NOW.

Ah, the small victories. We found our Crunchie/Flake/TimeOut bars, crumpets and Marmite here in SoCal (yay!) ... thing is, they all taste much better in England ;)

We're hoping we can go back around December as it will be 6 months away for me and 8 months for my husband (USC).

I've always loved my country and so does he - he loves the chocolate, the public transport, the cheese, the chips (real chips, not fries), the openness of the culture. Ahhh, now I miss it even more. :)

Small victories yes. Thankfully some of his stuff can be found locally (haddock rarely) but he was very h appy to have it again. Both of us are very excited to go. If it wasn't for my boys we would have looked to go back sooner but due to legalities we have to remain in the US for now. Probably a good thing with the economy. Hopefully by the time we are ready things will be a bit more stable everywhere.

When we go to visit it will just be to Grimsby for a week to visit his family. Next trip will be for him to show me around proper. We still aren't sure where we will live when we move back. Alot of it depends on what we can afford etc. We've tossed around either his home area initially or Scotland.
