My husband Tom is arriving in Washington this week w/ his CR1 visa. What happens when he gets off the plane?? does he get in the us line or the other?? please help---anyone know??

Most folks will ask an Officer or customer service rep (who ever is attending to the lines) which line to get in - almost always they are directed to the Citizens/Residents line.

I went to the citizen/returning resident line, and I wasn't wrong.

Good luck at the POE.

Is this the same for K1 visa as well? And if so, is it ok to go through together (I'll be travelling into Newark with my fiance)

Yes - works the same - ask one of the attending officers (usually roaming the lines) which to get line to get in and they will undoubtedly direct you both (or your fiance if traveling alone) to the Returning Residents/US Citizens line.

I'm sure there's no problem if you get in the Visitor line. I did that with my K1 and it went smoothly.

But the visitor line at Newark is sooooo long. In the past, I've spent over an hour in that queue. If I can avoid that, that'd be great. Especially as my beloved labrador will be waiting for us at cargo

Ah, glad I caught this thread, as I'm counting down the last month before I leave too.

*jots that down* So US Citizen line it is. Heh, kinda exciting. After all these flights I'm used to go to the Visitors line :-)

You cannot say they will undoubtedly direct anyone anywhere. Technically they are still visitors and will quite often be sent to the visitor's line, as my husband was at JFK.
