How did we all meet our loved one??

Abed & I met online as well in a yahoo chat room. At first I thought he was just a young, stupid, drunk kid having fun (I am a whole 5 years and 4 days older than him). We met June 2006, right before the Lebanon/Israel war. I always rushed home from work to see if I had any messages from him to tell me he was OK, internet was sparse, needless to say. It finally dawned on me in August that I was already in love, he knew what I was thinking before I did and I worried about him horribly! It was a strong connection and still is. I talked to his sisters on the phone and promised I would come meet them in February 2007 and I did, stayed a month, got married and pregnant all in the same trip, but not in that particular order unfortunately. He finally arrived on US soil 10 days before our oldest daughter's first birthday. Life is challenging at times, he is a Leo, I am a Leo...he is Pali, I am of German descent...but he is the best thing that has ever happened to me, aside from my two babies of course (L) . And I wouldn't trade him for the world. People I used to work with said he was only using me, and talked viciously behind my back, but I am the happiest I have ever been, and they can kiss my lilly white rear end!:P Some people will never understand how you can fall in love over the internet, but believe me, it is possible, though your feelings aren't completely validated until you are in each others arms.

Hopefully this made sense, I keep running back and forth between the living room and the computer room!

This is why only people I know and trust (family only) know what is really going on with my relationship. All others know he is in Morocco taking care of family...They don't need to know more than that! Beautiful kids btw!!

totaly agree

I met my husband Hasan on Mate1 my daughter had made me a profile and one day we where online she was making graphics and it popped up that I had an email so we checked it, went to the site and he was online so she told me talk to him. We talked a few times that day and then the next few days and then I asked where he lived and he said Jordan I had no clue so we looked it up online and I told him that I could not believe that he was such a nice guy so far away and that we could only be friends. We talked everyday and then I started having feelings for him and told him we couldn't talk anymore because I didn't want to get hurt. Well he called my daughter and emailed and called and left many voice mails and then I talked to him and that was all she wrote. We started talking in March and July we married, I arrived on Thursday at 5;30 pm and Monday at 11 am I was married. Had our wedding party that Thursday and that was 3 years ago. He has been here for 2 years.

My family was a little concerned and my friends freaked out, I told everyone to pray and if it was not God's will for us to marry then I would not have the money cos I didn't have any but seemed to get 8 thousand in a matter of a month, my first ever passport came in 4 weeks not 6, found my dress and all accessories including shoes for under $50.00. I guess it was meant to be. Life has had its moments just recently but all I can say is I am very happy and love my husband with all my heart and thank God for our marriage. We never went on a honeymoon so we are taking a cruise in November for 4 nights and that is going to be awesome.

I took my parents on a cruise that I won from a travel agent drawing. It was October 2001 and he was an officer (Engineer) with Carnival. We met in the disco and spent the whole week talking... Funny, I can remember thinking from the moment we talked "Well, I'm going end up head over heels with this one, I am sure". Then kicked myself for thinking such silly things. Found out later he thought the same thing. We had our first date in San Juan Puerto Rico. After months of taking, in December when he signed off the ship, it was too late for him to sign off B2, so he sent me a plane ticket to visit him in Italy.... I was not sure to go, but decided what the heck???

We dated for 2.5 years with me going on several cruises him staying a few weeks of his vacation here in Florida, then we would go to Italy. We finally got married in Italy in June 2003. We flew my mom and dad, brother and 3 friends for a big Italian celebration. The past 6 years he worked on board and I cruised with him and went to Italy on his vacations (he worked 4 months onboard then 2 months off)... After traveling all over and constantly in motion, Now we want to start a family and live here in Florida, so he found a job and we finally applied for the Green Card.

Funny, after being married for over 6 years and all the seperation and strange life, it is kinda scary to finally think of living together.... But he is the love of my life (and I used to be quite cynical about such things). I am still so in love and he still treats me like I am the most special gift in the world. He is my other half...

We met on a Muslim marriage site. I was about fed up with the site; and the day I took my pic down, I received a note from him. I always responded to someone when they took the time to actually write me. I basically told him, thanks-but no thanks. I was NOT interested in someone overseas. He wrote back to say thank you for being honest-mentioned a thing about his music, and I was hooked. A Muslim musician? My family has always been into music and so I was intrigued. We started online chat daily- then to webcam.. this started in May, 2008. In August, 2008 I went to see him in Syria. My aunts freaked out totally and started calling other relatives how I was crazy; I was going to get myself killed. Actually, it was the best time. Not a place I want to live, but I felt much safer there that I do in my own local big city. We had a great time just shopping the old city in Damascus.

Hired a lawyer in September, 2008. Filed in November, 2008. Interview in April, 2009...and we are just waiting now for the call....

ah. the longing....

First off I would like to say that people date for years and they go to dinner and a movie and maybe get a kiss at the door at the end of the night, but how much communication do they really get during those dates? People who meet online probably know their loved one a lot deeper than someone they dated for a couple years.

With that being said....

I met Loke online on a book forum. He made up a game and I was supposed to moderate the game for thousands of kids all over the world... well the game didn't make sense so I added him to my IM and I was shooting questions at him like a cannon ball. He was rude as hell to me and said that he didn't know all the answers yet he was still fine tuning the game. Nevertheless we got into a fight about it and I was like you son of a ^$%#%$@ you can't treat me like that. Anyway I checked his profile and damn that man was not only arrogant, but he was smoking hot as well. I told him he was lucky he was freaking cute because that's all he had going for him. He said that he had a girlfriend for four years and I told him I was married anyway so there was no damn crime in who I thought was cute or not.

Anyway we became really good friends and talked everday and he had to stop talking to me because he was having troubles in his relationship and he wanted to fix it. I was fine with it because I was having trouble with my own marriage. We stopped talking for 10 months.

One day he logged into IM and I was like OMFG it's you and he told me she left him and he was broken hearted and I told him I was going through divorce and life was bad for me too. We met in 2004 and we were just friends. I poured my soul out to him because he was this man on the other side of the world that would never tell my secrets. It wasn't like we were ever going to be together.......

One night in 2007 we were both celebrating our freedom and drinking vodka. He got down on one knee over web cam and said "Marry me" and I was like.... "No way!" and he said "Do it, marry me and I will pay for it and if you get here and I am not good enough for you then we will make it a committment ceremony and it won't be legal"

The next morning I was like ... he won't remember that... we were so drunk. Little did I know that he not only remembered it but was planning my flight lol.

I got on that plane and in 2007 four years after we first started talking... I touched his skin and I kissed his lips and I married that man.

We have been married for 2 1/2 years and he is here with me in the USA and has been for two years and I couldn't be happier. He is my soulmate.

True love is not something we find... love finds us.

I didn't conduct an online relationship and I feel like I knew my SO "deeply". Just wanted to point that out. That statement gets said a lot around VJ and I think it's just as bad as when people diss online relationships.

I meet my husband in a Wisconsin chat room. His best friend was enaged to a Wisconsin lady and told him that all the women in Wisconsin are good women. At first, I thought he was pulling my leg when I asked here he was from and he replied Egypt. We meet in Dec of 07 and he started asking me to marry him in Feb. He had to asked me three times before I said yes. In June of 08, I was flew over to meet Ahmed for the first time face to face and to marry him. All my friends thought I was crazy for doing this and some even tried to talk me out of it, but Ahmed melted my heart with his wonderful caring heart. It so funny now I cant even picture my w/o Ahmed in it.

I agree, Jen. Yes, ppl who meet online talk to each other a LOT because that's all they've got (if they live in different countries); however, no one knows just how honest the other is and if you really do actually know each other more deeply.

Ahmed and I talked about everything over the months. He shared things that was very painful to about his first marriage. We used the webcams so I could see how badly he was hurt. I felt his pain. The only thing he said after I said yes was please dont hurt my heart. Sorry, I get very emotionally about this because I was thinking about the same thing. I just knew he was the one. From the minute I was in his arms for the first time I felt so safe and secure.

Was just curious how we all met our foreign loves....I met mine online. Even though this seems common today, I don't love to tell everyone I met someone online...does anyone else have these same feelings? My family has no issues with it, what do you all think? Are we crazy for falling in love with people that are so far away? LOL I would never date someone outside a 50 mile radius of me...but when Ouadia and I met through a dating web site, he was so nice and day after day, we would talk, never missing a day, and one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was in morocco staying with him and his family for a month. I still can't believe I am having a relationship like this, he isn't perfect, but he is the man I have been looking for, and he feels the same. It is very difficult at times of course, but I know that what is waiting at the end of this journey is worth it! Just wanted to hear other stories, and connect! :D

I met my SO in September of 2007, through a matrimonial site even though I was only half-heartedly looking. I was pretty apprehensive with him as he was in Saudi Arabia and I'm in Tennessee, there was just way to many miles to build a great relationship, at least thats what I told myself. I was pretty closed off and kind of treated him with polite disinterest. I told him we could be friends and from time to time we could touch basis. Anyways, he didn't lose heart and began sending me music and inviting to listen to music with him through yahoo voice chat. Pretty soon, I was talking to him every day if only just to discuss new music and other things that piqued my interest. He called me on my birthday and I thought that was a very sweet thing to do and pretty soon, he was calling me on a daily basis. Even though he resides and work in Saudi Arabia, his nationality is Bangladeshi and he was telling me I should come over to his country. In November, he asked me to consider him as my SO and I was still hesitant, but he was pretty persuasive and by January, I was hooked. I didn't get to Bangladesh in 2008, we met in Dubai in July of 2008 and he formally proposed to me and I finally met his family in June of this year. I went to Bangladesh and we also went to see the Taj Mahal in India and saw the Himalayans in Nepal. It was awesome.
