Was just curious how we all met our foreign loves....I met mine online. Even though this seems common today, I don't love to tell everyone I met someone online...does anyone else have these same feelings? My family has no issues with it, what do you all think? Are we crazy for falling in love with people that are so far away? LOL I would never date someone outside a 50 mile radius of me...but when Ouadia and I met through a dating web site, he was so nice and day after day, we would talk, never missing a day, and one thing led to another, and before I knew it, I was in morocco staying with him and his family for a month. I still can't believe I am having a relationship like this, he isn't perfect, but he is the man I have been looking for, and he feels the same. It is very difficult at times of course, but I know that what is waiting at the end of this journey is worth it! Just wanted to hear other stories, and connect! :D

Are we crazy for falling in love with people that are so far away?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I also met Bijad online. He was the only one who was talking decent and I could carry on a conversation with! He asked for me MSN ID and I really didn't want to give it to him, but something told me I should. We have talked just about everyday for almost a year.

I tried to hide my relationship with Bijad, but that didn't work very long, especially when I randomly decided to travel to Morocco. LoL! My family is now fully supportive of us, and they can't wait for him to be here. They have talked to him online, through webcam and mic. They were also able to see me while I was in Morocco at his home.

The only concern they have is they wish they could speak with his parents, but they can only speak Arabic and French.. and all we know is English. haha! I have had my grandma here with me while I was on cam with Bijad and his mother. Bijad translated for us, and that was the breaking moment for my grandmother to see how real he is and how loving he is with his family.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would fall in love with a Moroccan. I didn't even know where Morocco was before I met Bijad!

There is no problem with how you met your spouce. I have friends who met online years ago, and todate they are still together and happy. I met my wife while vacationing in N.Y. (I met her the day I was going home inside JFK lobby area.)

It's 2009. I would assume that most people have met online these days. I met my husband online while I was in a religious chatroom. I was trying to convert him to Catholicism. :innocent:

I met John on YouTube while he was promoting his DVD (he left two very nice comments on my channel). I bought it (the DVD and his comments, LOL), and we struck up a friendship. Some time later, he came to SoCal for a film festival. He stayed with me, I was his gopher for the festival, all still platonic. At the time, I jokingly introduced him to my folks as "my future husband". On the drive to LAX (for his flight back to England), we realized we didn't want to be apart, and we became exclusive a few months later.

lol, took me a minute to figure out where I knew the nick mamasue from. Threw me for a loop. :D

Hubby and I met while playing a game online - a massively multiplayer sort of game. The game was dominated by men so it wasn't someplace guys would expect to find many girls.

We were on the same team and started talking one night - I believe it was new years eve. That was 5 or so years ago. Honestly I lose track. lol

Living with hubby in Egypt, at last.

I met my husband online over a year ago. And everybody thought I was crazy too for falling for someone not only online, but clear across the world from me! My family just about flipped out because of it. In fact, my brother disowned me when he found out that we actually got married!! But, all is well now, and my whole family supports our relationship and welcomed my husband into the family! :star:

I met my husband on a language exchange website. I was trying to learn French and he volunteered to help me, if I helped him with his English. We chatted with webcam for about 6 months before I went to Algeria to meet him.

I am the same way about telling people I met him online. I do tell people then it opens the floodgate to a lot of other questions and I seem to be telling the same story over and over. Recently I had a case of "tennis elbow" (don't play tennis) and had to do a round of physical therapy. There was a 70 yr old man getting therapy right next to me and he asked me why I wear my hijab. I explained and he asked me where my husband is from and I said Algeria. I thought "here we go". Anyway, he asked how we met and I hated to tell this elderly man I met him online cause I was sure he would have nothing good to say. I went ahead and told him that I met Hachemi online. The next thing out of his mouth was, "Well I met my wife online too." I just about fell out of my chair. He said she was Canadian and he did the fiance visa to bring her here.

OMG, that is so awesome!! (about the older man) LOL My older sister met her husband online, and they have been married for 9 years now. Sometimes when God has a plan, it is NOT the plan you ever expected for yourself, but I trust in God, and difficult or not, this is the best thing that has happened to me, next to having my son of course!
