Hypothetical: Despite all the best efforts, the world economy collapses

Call me stupid, but how could a total global economic collapse happen where all forms of currency are worthless? As long as there is a supply and demand of goods and services, some form a global economy will exist. I imagine you'd see more bartering if somehow currency is no longer valid.

Its all gonna get bartered depending on geographical location. Some places will use cigarettes (keep the tobacco co's alive) and other places will just use the labor of hypocritical idiots to provide 'free' services to those that keep their heads above water.

why use a middle man (tobacco co's) ... heck grow your own ... cure it ... barter it. it's been done before...

That's funny. I heard on the radio the other day about neighborhood bartering programs. They discussed the idea like it was such a ground-breaking socioeconomic concept. They must've forgot that ancient societies evolved past basic bartering thousands of years ago.

1. Improves the richness and texture of soils. (Soil builder). It has more than 40% of organic matter.

2. The bioremediation microbes clean up toxic spills on the soil. It has high percentage of natural living ,microbic flora. There is a predominance of beneficial fungus, actinomycetes and bacteria.

3. With a NPK of 10-6-2 it is a suitable as fertilizers. Various NPK contents can be produced by controlling the bat's diet.

4. Placed on the lawn will bring about excellent growth and healthy appearance. (Lawn treatment)

5. Foliar feeding kills fungus (Fungicide) and competes with disease causing microbes.

6. Controls harmful nematodes in the soil. (Nematocide). It destroys the primary stage of the nematodes and thus eliminates them. Eliminating nematodes is equal to protecting the plants' radicular system, which improves nutrition and production.

7. Excellent compost pile activator.

I am more curious, whether most folks would go along with whatever programs the authorities implement at first, or whether enough people would take advantage of the situation, that whatever "civilization" there was before the collapse would deteriorate into widespread looting and civil disobedience.

I have some insight into what the OES and other planners have in store for dealing with a major catastrophe, say an 8.0 earthquake along the southern San Adreas fault near Los Angeles. But, I wonder what others expect to happen, and how they expect to conduct themselves, and deal with the situation.
