Hello everyone, question regarding the situation we seem to be in right now. My family owns an apple orchard in NH and although i just recently moved to FL i have been able to secure some time off of my new new job to be able to go to NH and help with the apple harvest, which i would like to do to help out my family, the problem comes that Maria's interview is on Sept 16 and provided it goes well she would be arriving here in the states sometime in late sept. right around the time i would like to be in NH helping with the apple harvest.

could she arrive in boston or somewhere in the northeast, get married up there, help with the harvest, then drive back to FL and finish up any paperwork we have not completed in NH??? would this be a problem?

thanks for any input/ insight!!

Bill

Does not matter where (in the US) you get married - there is no relationship between where you live (or lived at the time you filed the petition) and where you marry and everualy end up living. Once a beneficiary is through the POE (which ever airport in which ever city/state that is) - the US is the US.

You could have filed from Alaska - your fiancé enters through New York, get married in Vegas, settle in in Florida and file AOS from there...

another question, would it be an issue to get married , apply for the SSN, and possibly apply for the AOS in NH and then return to FL to complete the AOS and the rest of the paperwork

No - not an issue.

Karin entered through JFK/NY and spent a couple weeks there with her aunt and while there applied for her SS card (which was sent to my address here in TX) - not exactly the same as what you're asking but close enough. (Just be sure - for forms asking for an address - that you list the correct Florida one - and be sure to send your AOS to the correct location for Fl. - I think they're the same for both, but check to be sure.)

She can arrive at any international POE and travel freely within the USA. No worries. She can also apply for an SSN at any SS office in the USA. I a;lmost always find JFK to offer the best airfares to that region and there are non-stops from Minsk to JFK, not much farther to drive from NH and you can save a bundle.

No problems. The ONLY thing is that you can expect to get a biometrics appointment letter at your Florida address maybe 3 weeks or so after filing the AOS, so it would be best to be back home before then. Where you mail it from, where you get married and where she applies for her SSN makes no difference. They can even mail the SS card to the Florida address and it will be aiting for her. They will gove you the SSN the next business day after applying, but the card will take 1-2 weeks to arrive.
