If your going on a trip, dont u usually look at a map and make a plan and even earlier wouldnt you start by picking the destination, then save the money, learn the best time to travel, learn what you will need, etc etc no different in this journey. If you have questions on some item read other articles, ask a friend thats been there, If your old enough to marry your old enough to do these steps. Its a hard journey for most

actually before taking a trip i ask around and see if others have gone and what their opinion of it is before i plan the trip and look at a map. if it doesnt seam like its something i would want to do from hearing bad opinions from others then no need to look at the map first. the map is the last thing i look at before i leave.

The OP wasn't asking for opinions, rather directions. In this case, a map is the proper tool to use FIRST, which happens to be our guides.

if you look again the OP was asking questions, which can be answered without having to study for a test. if someone asked you whats the weather going to be like today do u tell them go watch the weather channel? no if u know u answer them and tell them its going to be hot and sunny. why is it so hard to answer people when they ask a simple question without having to direct them to the "guides".

geezzz ive never in my live seen so many people so huffy about answering a question for another person.

If you dont take the map or look at it, you will find yourself lost. Its great to be able to ask other ppl theyre experiences, advice and thoughts. But ppl are not infaliable (if I spelled that right)... No one is perfect in their advice. Even when having good intentions to help someone on the right path, a persons wrong advice can deter them and mistakes can be made that can not be corrected sometimes. Something as important aas this requires good decisions, studying, reading on, and thinking!. Its good to find out the 'facts', check out the websites, uscis.gov or any others. Make notes. But when asking other ppl always take it with a grain of salt and add it to the facts that you have found and weigh it yourself. When a person takes a very important test that can alter the whole rest of your life, are you going to ask ppl the answers to the test? Or will you study the book and get the answers yourself to make sure you have done it all correctly? Im not saying, dont ask other ppl,... I ask all the time.. but at same time I want no mistakes and I will look it up to for myself.

You became combative Donna, this is why you are seeing "huffy" people. The original post indicated that no previous research had been undertaken and that is why it is essential to direct people to the guides and encourage a culture on this website where instead of 100's of "nutshell" threads, actual questions unique to individual cases are answered. The participants on this site need to take responsibility for their own petitions by making an effort to understand the process itself, and this is where the guides (and the often not used search option) come in.

The OP was asking the question whilst having absolutely no idea where to start. She was directed to the guides and then told to come back if she was still unsure.

Pushbrk's approach is one that I have begun undertaking too. Unfortunately when you answer one question without the poster reading the guides, then more and more unnecessary questions are asked. As an experienced member of this website the most helpful thing you can do for new and uninitiated members is to direct them to the guides in the first instance.....after all....it's been proven....they work.

Even after studying the guides, many seemingly unnecessary questions will be asked but what's more important is the questions anwered in the guides that one would never think to ask. The only person being "huffy" here is the one complaining about the OP being directed to the guides. I hope the studied the guides instead of relying solely on questions posted to the forums.

Like any subject one choses to learn, they have little clue what they don't know or what to ask about until they read the textbook.

OKAY So, First thank you for all the responses....

Now Secondly... Yeah i have been reading and reading EVERYTHING for months now...and have probably printed and pre-filled(3-4xs) in all the paperwork ever involved in the matter of immigration.... I did do my homework... However, it is nice to get a "sound-board" of ideas and thoughts because i am just really nervous to go down one path when a more prudent one is available....

 THANK YOU TXLADY.... I REALLY WANT TO LIVE WITH MY HUSBAND and LIFE APART is NOT easy for me as he really is my companion through thicknthin....SO thank you VERY much for the advise on that. Today me and my husband decided that he will save for me visit him... while i will save for him to come here (given the income difference... I make in one week what he makes in a whole month)

Now although my mom... or a few good friends are offering ... to co-sign for me that doesn't exactly mean i am chummy with them.... (the reason i have lived solo since 18 is my mom flat out gave me 2 weeks notice before my b-day to get out... however strange the realationship is ... i don't care as long as i can get my hubby to USA faster and easier)

So, sorry if it sounded like I was an ignorant person posting but i thought the purpose of asking was to learn....

and about that whole classroom prof. thing.... if you read your text book and you go to an open discussion to edit and review with your prof... that isn't exactly being ignorant or lazy... :innocent:

If there are any other sides of the issue that i can't see... like DCF or HOW TO RECIEVING PROOF THAT I NEVER WAS REQUIRED TO FILE TAXES..... OR ANY advise or support I REALLY APPRECIATE IT MORE THAN ANYONE COULD UNDERSTAND ... THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT... IT IS ALL GOOD FOOD FOR THOUGHT

also...

lol...

i appreciate the seriousness but no need to cut-throat anyone :-D

i am trying to try to do my best.... i came back and took a job serving chinese food from 9:30Am-9pm 6days a week jsut to afford this process so yeah i am serious... but i want to be as close to happy as possible while going through the process of getting my *foreign* husband to his new home with me.

all i want to do is to see all sides and views... i am not really wandering aimlessly... but seeing all the paths that could work or help....

I am sure everyone was nervous at first n just needed to hear or see something to feel encouraged....

So thanks for the encouragement y'all...

Your initial post contained the following question.

"If anyone can explain in simple english to me: how to get this BIG ball rolling, i would REALLY APPRECIATE!" That's exactly what the guides do. So that's where I got the impression you hadn't yet read the textbook.

Comments like this are unnecessary and add nothing to the discussion. If you do not have something useful to say, then it is better not to say anything.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

its not a requirement to study the guides before asking questions. if you cant be bothered by people who dont study first then just dont answer them. there are people out there that will!!!

Jeez.

I studied the guides here for several weeks before I posted my first question.

Being 'young' isn't an excuse for being rude.

did this add anything to the descussion? lets stop playing favorites kathryn.

You don't need proof that you didn't file taxes, you do however need to write a note saying why you did not.

I agree with everyone here that it's a great idea to read the CR1 guide. Also you need to read the forms you are going to submit - they give specific information, for example the answer to your question above. (page 8, item 25, paragraph 6 of the I-864, affidavit of support).

Good luck!

Donna -

When I responded to this, I admit that I thought it was the OP posting. That was my mistake.

So the 'rude' comment was not directed at you, although I quoted you. I apologize for that.

I still contend that new members should read the guides, and I don't believe we are obliged to answer the questions of those that won't.
