Hi,

I have sent the IV fee of $400 and am waiting for the paid status.

My wife lives in Surat. Is it possible for her to get the PCC before receiving the call letter from NVC? If yes, what does she need to show to the Passport office? And is it the requirement to add spouse's name on her passport in order to get PCC?

I am very frustrated and confused. Please help! :help:

relax, man.. it is not that difficult to get the PCC.

Local Police PCC is relatively time consuming.

Go to Police Headquate, ( IN BAHUMALI Building, in Nanpura). Take copy of your Letter NVC emailed you ( take color print out ) , addressing to your wife. It is intital letter NVC sent with case number and all the other information on subsequent pages.

Now prepare a word document ( stating that you need PCC from locat police station, NVC website has that information), and attached it to your NVC letter. This is needed as local police station wants something inwriting fron NVC tht you nedd PCC (basically a REF, but i am sure you don't want to wait till than). A simple word pae will do the trick.

Once you go to Bahumali build , they will guide you with process. Make sure you take marriage and birth certificates. After the process, they will give you sealed packet ,(some time they don't give this to you , they say they will send directly to the local police station of your area). But you can ask them and say you will take it to your local police station. Once you take this to your local poli station, they will open and ask for same document you submited to bahumali building. Local police station will also need one person as witness, they can not be your immidiate family member.

After that local police gives a seald envelope take that to bahumali building, there again you have to do some more paperwork, some notorize document. After compliting the paper work you will get local police station PCC. Congratulation :D

This will take any where frim 2 days to a week or may 2 week., depend on who you are dealing with at local police staton, and at bahumali. Try to send your wife only ( they have soft corner to girls) , take care of the peoples, you know keep 3- 4 100 rs bills you will need them. There is a lady at bahumali , who is very helping. There is an officer as well, but try to avoid him.

Now Passport office PCC< you can try the same letter and I 130 approval letter to get PCC. You just have fill out the form and pay Rs 350 with that. I hope the should do the work.( depends on who is at teh passport office window, there is a lady put there who is very stict) If not they need interview letter , which you will get afterword.

If later is teh case than, when you send ds-230 , just tell NVC that you will show the passport office PCC at the time of interview.

Once you submit form in passport offcie it will take 4 days to get PCC.

First of all,

Thank you much for the detailed info. Now this is what happened. My father-in-law went for the District Clearance Cetificate, I think in Bahumali building. Luckily he found out that the lady who works there knew him somehow. So that's a plus. nice! He talked to her about getting the District certificate.

She told him that the past 2 months, Gujarat government has changed the laws. Before they used to give out forms for District clearance, but now you have to go to Passposrt Office and fill out the form with a fee of Rs. 300. So she told him to go to the Passport office and submit the form with the fee.

Then he can come back after 3 days to her and she will give the DCC right away. She told him to take bunch of stuff like, gas bill, light bill, electric bill, birth certificate, leaving certificate, passport, and marriage certificate. After he gets the District Certificate, he then can go to the Passport office and submit it and they will give the PCC right away. That's what the lady told him at the police station.

What do you think about this?

i don't know if they changed the procedure or not, my wife got the PCC in june so , may be she is right.

i heard couple of people taking about it...i your case it will be littel bit easy as both passport office and police station are in surat. Yes take those stuff to passport office fill out form with NVC letter , and just to be on safe side insert a word page stating need for local pcc.

I think once you get that ( local or district PCC_) you can send your DS-230 and sy that passoprt office one will be shown at teh time of interview.

more information is on ths forum

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=201768

Also i am not sure about passport offcie ( regional pcc), you have to get some signs on local PCC( distric PCC) from collector and PI and than take that with you to Passport office and fill out from with NVC letter to get passport office pcc.

Also passport offcie will mail you the PCC.

Ok this is what I found out yesterday.

My wife and her dad went to the agent in order to get the District Clearance Certificate. They said that you have to go to Bahumali building and fill out the form and pay the fee and stuff.

Now like I mention earlier, when they went to bahumali building, they told them that Gujarat has changed the law. Now everything has to be done from passport office. They said, you have to fill out the forms at passport office, get the signature from the PEO, pay the fee and then bring the fee receipt to them. But the problem is, they are saying that you can not get District Clearance without PCC. Means you need to show the PCC in order to get District clearance.

But I called NVC few days ago, asking about the call letter, and they said, I don't need any documents in order to get District PCC.

And talking about the initial letter you mentioned in the beginning, is it the email that included choice of agent stuff. Because that was the first email addressing her name.

Also can I find like a sample letter request somewhere on this place?

This is what I think my wife should do. She should go and fill out the form for the District PCC at the passport office. Let's see if they accept the fee. I will tell her to print the letter NVC sent the first time and I will type as word document. Let's see what they say.

What do you think?

My wife who stays in Nadiad mentioned the same thing to me about how the local police stations won't give PCCs anymore and you have to go through passport office for everything. However that hasn't been implemented yet because she just went last week to Nadiad Police office and filled out paperwork for local PCC. She printed out the AOS coverpage and gave that to them as they wanted some kind of proof for why she needed it. She got the Local PCC in 4 days and in my cover page for the DS-230 i am stating that the passport PCC from Ahmadabad will be submitted at time of interview. My wife sent me a true color copy and a regular color copy of the local PCC to send to NVC. Passport office will require original local PCC and NVC told me a copy of the PCC will be fine and can submit originals at time of interview.

Hey nyrhythm,

Does my wife have to add my name (spouses's name) in her passport in order to get either Local PCC or Regional PCC?

so you haven't changed the name in passport? If you have done that than , you would not required local police station PCC.

No it is not necessary but if you have done than than it was much benificial to you, as now she willl get her visa , ssn with her maiden name and than once she comes here you have to chage all of that , and it will be timeconsuming process to cahnge all of that.

ANy way jus go as it is right now, because name change in passport is getting a new passport and that could take anywhere from 1 month to 3-4 months.

I whould suggest to inquire about urgent passport provision, as it is better to get the vis on her married name.

I believe you haven't sent the DS-230 yet so , try to inquire about getting name change in passport urgently, as fas as i know , you have to pay more fees but you will passport in 1 week to 10 days. You have to show them that your file is approved( NVC initial letter, which comes with DS-3032 form ) and hopefully you will get the passport quickly.

same letter , teh first letter NVC sent to you , which saya your NVC case number, and ask you to send DS-3032 form, you can use the same letter for PCC>

No it's not about changing her name. It's about adding my name in her passport, which will cause her to receive a new passport.

There is a line at the last page of Indian passport which says 'Spouse's Name'. That's where they are asking to add my name.

Why I am asking this is because the first time she went to get the Regional PCC, they said, this is a requirement to add spouse's name. I don't think this is a requirement, I think they are just bothering her.

Also they were asking for call letter.

Another thing, I called NVC and they said, If you can't get Regional Passport Certificate, then you can write in the cover letter that Passport office is asking for call letter and that I will submit the Regional Certificate at the time of interview.

Then NVC will send the letter requiring Regional PCC after recieving the DS-230, and they won't delay the case.
