oh my god, i need some help just to get my head around the process (I HAVE read the short cuts a million times but i like things in dummy terms so forgive me while i repeat what has been said in other words!)

they're not huge things, but little fiddly things.

can i ask you kind folks some Q's?

ok, so i assembled I864 and I864A package and am sending it to US citizen hubby tomorrow ready for when he sends it off to NVC. it has everything needed, i triple checked, but i want to make sure i am sending it correctly AT the correct time to NVC.

do we wait for the NVC case number to come in the mail (or over the phone line which i am calling every day) with the AOS bill and the DS3032 instructions, THEN do we email the DS3032 and snail mail it too, then pay the AOS bill ONLINE to make things quicker?

after that, if i am correct, do we then get notification online that the bill is paid and a barcode is generated in the online system, which will be attached to the I864/I864A package, then sent off to NVC????

also, at what point do i send my DS230 and when i send it, do i need my police certificate back to be able to send it..? i am still waiting on it to come back to me in the mail!!! :) i dont mind waiting til it comes back, but if i can send DS230 off without the police certificate back yet, is that ok?

one more thing..... is the DS230 sent after we get the IV bill? i thought it might be?!??! and if so, is the IV bill generated AFTER we pay the first I864/I864A bill? if so, does the IV bill just get generated after they receive our first bill, or after they receive our paperwork for the I864/I864A??

SOOOOOOOOOOO, is that IT??

i mean apart from the medical and interview of course?!?!?!

thanks for listening guys.. hopefully someone can confirm i am on the right track so i can help the next round of lucky NOA2'ers :)

do we wait for the NVC case number to come in the mail (or over the phone line which i am calling every day) with the AOS bill and the DS3032 instructions, THEN do we email the DS3032 and snail mail it too, then pay the AOS bill ONLINE to make things quicker? Once the NVC case number is assigned you can send the DS-3032 via e-mail (faster than snail mail). The AOS bill has to be generated before you can pay it. This is done after the choice of agent has been accepted

after that, if i am correct, do we then get notification online that the bill is paid and a barcode is generated in the online system, which will be attached to the I864/I864A package, then sent off to NVC???? Yes, you need the fee confirmation cover sheets for both the IV bill and the AOS bill when you send in the info

also, at what point do i send my DS230 and when i send it, do i need my police certificate back to be able to send it..? i am still waiting on it to come back to me in the mail!!! :) i dont mind waiting til it comes back, but if i can send DS230 off without the police certificate back yet, is that ok? You send the DS-230 after the IV bill has been generated and paid. You need to send the complete DS-230 packet, including the police certificate.

one more thing..... is the DS230 sent after we get the IV bill? Yes after you get it and pay it i thought it might be?!??! and if so, is the IV bill generated AFTER we pay the first I864/I864A bill? if so, does the IV bill just get generated after they receive our first bill, or after they receive our paperwork for the I864/I864A?? They generated our AOS and IV bill together.

SOOOOOOOOOOO, is that IT??

LingChe's shortcuts have a step by step outline of NVC and has the fastest routes to case complete

Good luck.

the thing is you will need the barcode that usually comes after you've paid for your AOS or IV bill, so you may as well wait for your NVC number and IIN and pay for it online (quicker) and then once your payment has cleared, you can go ahead and print out the page on which the barcode for your case is displayed. I know that in the LingChe instructions there is something about generating a barcode and what not, probably someone can hopefully advise you on how that went...I never got that far on doing that...

after that, if i am correct, do we then get notification online that the bill is paid and a barcode is generated in the online system, which will be attached to the I864/I864A package, then sent off to NVC????
i didn't get notified? i would just check it every day to make sure your payment went through. once it does, you have the option of printing out the document that you need to print out to place in front of all your documents that you're gonna send to NVC.

also, at what point do i send my DS230 and when i send it, do i need my police certificate back to be able to send it..? i am still waiting on it to come back to me in the mail!!! :) i dont mind waiting til it comes back, but if i can send DS230 off without the police certificate back yet, is that ok?

Yeah, you need your Police Certificate to send with your IV documents...for sure. Otherwise, you might get an RFE for it later on.

And why pay twice for sending your DS230 to the US and then waiting for the PC and then sending that in later? :)

one more thing..... is the DS230 sent after we get the IV bill? i thought it might be?!??! and if so, is the IV bill generated AFTER we pay the first I864/I864A bill? if so, does the IV bill just get generated after they receive our first bill, or after they receive our paperwork for the I864/I864A??
no you can print everything out at http://www.uscis.gov if you pay online, which I highly advise you do. In my case, and I speak for myself only, I first had to pay for my AOS fee, after that my IV fee popped up when I logged into NVC. So yeah. I guess in that time period, you're supposed to send your AOS stuff. In my case, I didn't send my AOS stuff till after I sent my IV stuff (I had to wait for my dear lazy brother to send me his I-1864 and tax transcripts so that delayed me). But it worked out fine. But I would print everything out or save them to your PC to familiarize yourself with the documents.

SOOOOOOOOOOO, is that IT??

Remember, you can't just pay the bills. They have to be generated by NVC first.

Good luck.

they take a good while to respond, but they will at least at some point...

The NVC’s e-mail address is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov.

In order to ensure a prompt response:

  • The Subject Line of the e-mail should be the relevant NVC Case Number.
  • Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.
  • If you are an attorney, include the name of the law office requesting the information.
  • If the petition is employment-based, include the company/organizational name.
  • Reference only one case per e-mail.

yay for mrsemcee creating this thread, i'll take this opportunity to ask what are packet 3 and packet 4?

Packets 3 and 4 are mainly for K1 and K3 filers.

Packet 3 speaks of the docs needed for interview which is mainly the docs we as CR1 filers sent to NVC. So we CR1 petitoners dont need to bring them all again to the interview. NVC has a link to view the packets 3 and 4 at your assigned interview.

At NVC site, when you sign in, you see the bills already produced for you, bottom of that page is a site, click it, punch in the 3 letters of your case number and it takes you to Packets issued for your embassy.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Bruzarelli here is the link, sorry I missed a step in above post. Punch in your 3 letter in your case number. And it will show you packet 3 or 4 if your embassy has one, not all embassies has posted packet info.

this is only for k-1 people correct? i'd be livid if we had to go through getting this stuff again, getting my marriage certificate from TR would be a total nightmare at this point :(
