Hi all,

I am getting ready to fly back to the UK and my wife and I are getting our I-130 forms in order. I just wanted to make sure we have one everything correctly.

We have:

* Completed I-130

* Completed G-325A for ME

* Completed G-325A for WIFE

* One photograph of ME and WIFE (Do we need to write our names on the back of them?)

* Affidavits from WIFE'S MOTHER, WIFE'S SISTER, WIFE, ME, and MY FRIEND IN UK

* Copy of Wedding Certificate

Have I missed anything or should I add anything to help?

I keep hearing horror stories (Which I am sure are myths) about how USCIS are looking for ways to find a mistake so they can make you start over again from the beginning. If anyone has general advice on this it would help. I had a lawyer help me with the affidavits and answer questions on the general forms but they want 2,500 pounds to do the I-130 and that is too much. So any help would be much appreciated.

Also, is there a website where I can get the process list of what documents follow in what order? I.e. NOA1, NOA2 etc etc

Thank you,

-Mike

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

Thanks guys! I will keep you posted.

One thing - my wife is a very low-income earner (she works for her mom's convenience store) and gets money back when she submits her tax returns. But she is not sure if she has them. What should we do about this, as apparently she needs to provide her tax returns for the last few years later on in the process. Does anyone know how many?

I see you are missing the following

- cover letter

- passport style photo of petitioner

- passport style photo of beneficiary

- proof of citizenship (copy of ALL passport pages or copy of USC birth certificate)

Read the guides, all the information needed for a smooth journey is in there

Oh - don't forget death or divorce decrees if necessary

And yes, your USC wife will need to contact the IRS to get the last 3 years tax returns.

Thank you. Should the cover letter say anything in particular or be in a certain format? I assume that is written by my wife, the petitioner.

Someone else implied this, but let me just say it straight out:

I didn't see you prove your citizenship. You either need to provide your birth certificate or a copy of every page of your passport. Make sure you do that.

With the I-130, you are basically proving:

1. You are an American citizen (or LPR).

2. You have terminated any other relationships you have had (that may affect this relationship).

3. You have a relationship to the person you are petitioning for.

So you have to establish a legal paper trail of these three.
