I'm new to this so all helps are appreciated. My question is one must KNOW his/her fiance/fiancee AT LEAST 2 YEARS before filing I-129F, is this true? For I only know my fiancee for less than a years but we had met twice. Thanks

Steve

Actually it means you two have to meet in person at least once in the past two years before you file the K1 petition, but not knowing her for over two years. Since you've met each other in person, you're qualified for the petition. :D

the requirement is you must have met at least one time in the past two years. proof of that is required, such as copies of visa stamps on passport, plane tickets/boarding passes, and so on.

i recommend starting here:

specifics on information for proof of meeting listed here

good luck and best wishes for a speedy visa journey

As Cipher said, there is no requirement for length of relationship, only that you have met in person within the last 2 years. You must submit proof of this with your I-129F when you submit it

Evidence accepted

Photos of you and her together

copies of airline ticket stubs proving one or the other went to the others country

copies of passport stamps showing date of entry and exit from said countries.

there are other forms of evidence that you can submit but those three are the most common.

also include a letter how you met and relate your ongoing relationship. You will have to prove ongoing relationship at the interview after you have approved petition

Read the FAQs and guides provided here and ask questions when you dont understand something.

Good luck on your journey

In answer to your question. If you have not met in person in the last two years your petition for a fiancee visa will be dissapproved. The only exceptions to that are social, religious or cultural reasons why you cant meet in person or some form of extreme hardship. all of those reasons are very hard to prove and rarely have made a difference.

Not having met in the last 2 years is grounds for denial pretty much 100% of the time unless u can prove that it is against your religion to meet in person before marriage.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Well my situation is somewhat unigue. I flew to Hong Kong and stayed with her for 2 weeks. this was February of 2003. I filed K1 visa when i got home, everything went fine until she went to interview and they mentioned the fact she never had her first marriage anulled when she was 17, which was almost 30 years ago. I knew nothing about the first marriage until her interview. I was not willing to wait another year. We stopped speaking to each other for 6 months or so and i filed some form to discontinue K1 visa. We are now back together, starting from scratch but i have not been to Hong Kong since the first time. I am willing to take my chances and see what happens, if they force me to go and visit i will but right now our plans are to meet in Manila to say goodbye to her family and fly back to U.S. together. I know, i have always done things the hard way, lol. we will see what happens.

That has DENIED written all over it. Meeting within the 2 year period is a REQUIREMENT of the petition being accepted. It dones not matter if your met prior to this. Have you read the many many pages of yearly denials for this exact thing. You can....on the USCIS website. But by all means try if you dont mind throwing money away.
