hey guys thanks for the info wuts this lottery visa that you are talking about? She lives in cali and i live in Vancouver and it cost 400$ round trip for a plan tickect and we cant afford doing this alot on a students budget please guide us on the right path and the easiest path to get to be together we need to be inspired thanks.

Since you are both students and don't have the financial means to afford these plane tickets and you are not planning to get married anytime soon, I'd say you should just keep up your studies and call each other or use Skype. Then later when you have a nice job and can afford to support each other and assuming your relationship grows and you want to get married, then you will do what is necessary.

Canadians are not eligible for the visa lottery - it is for countries that are not well represented in the existing visa numbers.

Canadians cannot 'live' in the US without proper documentation. Americans cannot 'live' in Canada without proper documentation. Because of the nature of our relationship with each other, however, we are often able to visit for extended lengths of time generally with the caveat that we will have to prove our ties to our home country. When we can not prove those ties, or if we are in the other country for longer periods of time than in our own country or if we are in either country for longer than 6 month at a single time, then we are generally denied entry by the border officials. Those who live in border towns do have the opportunity to cross the border quite regularly, although any American working in Canada and any Canadian working in the US has a proper visa that allows them to do so. Even so, border residents also may need to prove their 'ties' to their home country when crossing the border.

It is actually easier for an American to immigrate to Canada than a Canadian to immigrate to the US. Even though Canada doesn't have fiance visas they do have visas for those who are in a conjugal relationship or a common law marriage. If the American enters Canada on a proper visa (visitors aka temporary residence, student, work, etc.) they are allowed to apply to become a permanent resident from within the country based upon one of the family class relationships - ie, conjugal relationship. So, if you live together and can prove it, you may have some success immigrating to Canada to live. Here is a link to further information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
