yes, maybe, yes but not after kindergarten, then my mom used a worse tactic, telling me what i did wrong. honestly, i would rather have gotten the spanking, the pain lasted shorter.

I think spanking is one of many parenting techniques. I think it's parents' business how they want to discipline their child. I don't plan on spanking, but I also plan on having a child that is perfectly behaved at all times. We'll see how that goes. :P

I think spanking a child on the bottom is ok, but it could be abusive under certain circumstances. Discipline, IMO, should be about correcting a child's behavior, rather than being vindictive - "I'm gonna make you pay for what you did!" If a parent goes about punishing their child from that mindset (vindication), what lesson is the child really learning?
