hi...a follow-up..i got this link from Sheriff Uling's post stating:

Petitioners Attendance at the Visa Interview: The petitioner is NOT required to attend the visa interview with the beneficiary, and will NOT be asked any questions during the visa interview. In fact, some COs request for the petitioner to continue waiting in the lobby. Approximated 90% of the visa interviews are held WITHOUT the attendance of the petitioner, according to VJ member(s).

On the contrary, i found this http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Philippines&cty=Manila stating

Can fiance(e)/spouse attend the interview? Yes

Visa fee payment "same day" or "in advance"? Advance

Did the embassy schedule your interview or could you walk-in? Walk-in or Schedule

Visa issued same day? No

im confuse now..who's right then???

Its up to the individual consular officer whether you are allowed into the actual interview room with your fiancee. You cannot be denied from entering the embassy and waiting with your fiancee.

I was actually asked questions by both the pre-screener and the consular officer.

I highly recommend attending the interview with your fiancee. It will put her at ease and, assuming everything is in order, virtually guarantee your approval. They did not ask for any proof of an ongoing relationship from us ... no pictures, emails, phone records were asked for or provided.

We asked if we could pick up the visa instead of having it delivered. We picked it up just 2 days after the interview. Then we were able to fly back to the US together which was really cool (and not having your fiancee have to go through the POE alone is another plus).

Having the USC at the interview is good evidence of ongoing relationship, whether or not he will be able to sit in at the interview is up to the CO. In any case, USC's presence will be noted and they will know he's waiting.

One case where the USC was allowed in the interview, the CO told the USC, "I will ask your fiancee questions and she will respond. Then I will ask you questions and you will respond. Do you both understand?"

Be aware of possible delays in processing and delivery of your visa. Buying an advance one-way air ticket back to the States so that you can both fly back together is a nerve-racking risk and not recommended as per the documents in your forthcoming embassy "packets" and the personal experiences of many here.

One good thing if your USC fiancee can make the trip is that he use his airline luggage allowance (typ. 2 X 35kg) to help bring the bulk of your belongings back to the States with him, or in the best of situations, fly back together so he can help you with your bags/boxes and navigation through airports and the longest airplane ride of your life.

Good luck!

Put it this way!

I have seen NUMEROUS petitioners that are still kicking themselves in the butte for NOT attending the interview. :bonk:

Very few if any that regret having attended!

Our time line for CR1 visa took only 5 months and 1 week or 156 days; from the filing the I-130 on the 03-12-2009 to Approval of NOA2 on the 05/13/2009, then Interview on the 08/18/2009 at Manila, Philippines. We had a daughter on the 11-12-2010 named AISHA JOY means HAPPY LIFE.a1_opt-1.jpga2_opt-1.jpga3_opt-1.jpg

So how long did you allow yourself in the Philippines? Did you go just for the interview, then fly back a few weeks later? I would love to go with my fiance to his interview, im just not sure the amount of time I should be there before I can take him home with me :)

I allowed 2 weeks - turns out a week would have been enough - but there are no guarantees. Its a risk - we purchased my fiancees ticket (partially refundable) ahead of time and it all worked out
