congrats to everyone who passed....and my condolences to everyone who didn't or who got into AP...it will end soon hopefully....

ours is in 3 days, and im a nervous wreck...haven't been able to get through to hubby, reception for mobiles in syria seems to worsen as the cold weather sets in...and it depends where you are. he has no reception at home :crying: but he is aware of his interview, and i've emailed everything to him, and still have to send more stuff in today...just my taxes and some of my itinerary stubs that i forgot to mail to him back in august....

on pins and needles literally...haven't slept properly in about a week....7-8 am every night.... :(

i'm SO SICK AND BLOODY TIRED OF THIS PROCESS.

You'll be fine! and in 3 days you'll be done with the process one way or another, your hubby is the only person who can affect it now, just trust in him to get through the interview in one piece and everything will be great for you!!

Hang in there Enraptured, the end is in sight.

I hadn't given the full account of how my interview went, here it is:

I got at the embassy at 6.30am, was let in after showing my appointment letter and medical envelope. I joined the queue and saw the first CO at around 8am, she asked for the medical report, passport and two passport pics. She had the case file in front of her she gave me back my original birth certificate, marriage certificate and the two pics submitted with DS-230. She asked me to have a seat and wait to be called for finger printing. It took another one hour or so before i was called at another counter and had my finger prints taken. Then after another hour or so i was called to yet another counter where i was asked to raise my hand and swear that the information submitted it correct. The CO then asked me:: Who filed for the petition, How we met and when, Was hubby previously married, Does he have any kids and how old is the child, what do i do for work and where do i work. He said everything looks good and as a by the way he asked if i had any pictures. I gave him a bunch of pictures he quickly flipped through them and made a comment abt one of the pics (he said it was nice) and gave them back. He said my visa has been approved and i can pick it up on the 22nd at 3pm  . The evidence pack i had carried was never requested for: all my phone records, snail mail receipts, skype logs, etc remained untouched i still think its better to be prepared with every piece of evidence.

On the 22nd, I was at the embassy at 2.30pm, the guards took the blue slip and requested that we sit outside, we sat and waited till 4.10pm. The CO came on the speaker and announced that all the IV collectors will get back their passports and an accompanying sealed envelope, she said the xray we got after the medicals plus the envelope received should be given to the CO at the POE. We were then called one after another and the visas handed out. That's it!

For the last October 09 group, Best wishes & good luck, its almost over.

I AM JUST BEYOND DEVASTATED RIGHT NOW.

my husband didnt go to his visa interview, he is sick as a dog and caught a virus, he has an ear infection, sinuses are bad, he was in bed when he talked to me...i am just so pissed....

but that's not the worst part. apparently the syrian government wont recognize our turkish marriage, so i have to retain an attorney from syria and have them take our case to court and then push for it to be recognized. they will have to run a background check on me, which alone will take 3 months. the whole process will take 4-5 months!! now, how am i supposed to explain this to the embassy??? they are going to call him to reschedule the interview (i just talked to them) but...what does this mean for us? should we just get the marriage registered and then do the interview? or just do the interview, go into AP, and then endure all this BS?!!?! what the heck am i supposed to do at this point??? i've been up all night and now it's 8:15 am and i can't sleep because i'm so upset.

why the heck did this have to happen...i am just beyond devastated.....looks like i'll be spending our 2nd wedding anniversary, and this new year's alone again.

#######....seriously....#######........ :crying::crying::crying::crying:

if anyone can offer advice, PLEASE DO, I AM JUST DESPERATE RIGHT NOW.

thank you.

im confused!!!!!!!!!!! he is immigrating to the usa not syria.......how does what syria says about ur marraige have anything to do with the usa embassy? didnt you already go thru nvc?

I feel so bad for you.......i dont even have words to help u......all i can offer is prayers and dua.......i would go ahead with the interview and do ap if that is what it takes i dont know about attorneys in syria but i would think they would feel more compelled to hurry with what ever has to be done if the interview is complete and u and the embassy is waiting on their completion of their work..........im so sorry this happened to u.......i hope someone can come and give u knowledgeable advise about this instead of just my misguided thoughts about this situation........ He's interviewing at the USEM in Syria? What do you mean they will not recognize your Turkish marriage? You mean the USEM won't or the Syrian government won't? What do they have to do with the process anyway?

Damn, that sucks. I'm so so sorry for you. I don't know what to say.

that's what i'm saying...what does syria have to do with this? when we went to turkey, i went to the US embassy in Ankara, and i signed an affidavit to marry there. then we got married. that automatically makes me assume that marriage in turkey is VALID in US law, if i had to go through the US Embassy to even do all this, right??? i'm thinking hubby is getting some bad advice. well, today couldn't have been helped because he is pretty ill, coughing non-stop, and i'm not about to have him go to the embassy in that condition and spread his germs around. but im hoping and praying also that they aren't weird about rescheduling and hopefully it will be mighty quick.

hey sachinsky, basically the syrian government wont recognize it because he had to get permission from the government to marry a foreigner prior to all this. we didn't know that when we got hitched. we also got married in TR because i love turkey and so does he and we wanted to honeymoon in istanbul. that was a selfish reason, perhaps, but that's what we did. i also didn't want to go to syria because i have a bitchy old aunt there that i can't stand, but i sucked it up this year and went and it turned out fine. i kinda wish now we went to syria and got married to avoid all this sh*t.... :(

thanks for your condolences..i hope you won't run into any snafus on your end

Like was said earlier, why does Syria have to recognise the marriage? the US gov recognise it and thats the most important thing, as long as they recognise it, you shouldn't have any problems getting the green card

---------

As a side note, I don't know if you have access to the internet at the moment but I wanted to wish both you and your hubby luck for tomorrow Beth!!

Who gives a rats tookas what Syria recognizes????? You are applying for him to come to the USA as a resident of USA... NOT syria... So all that matters is that the US government recognizes the marriage NOT if Syria recognizes...

Just becuase the Embassy is located on Syrian soil... IT IS NOT PART OF SYRIA... For all purposes, embassy soil is legally the United States of America, therefore, only with the US govt considers valid matters... Now if you wanted Syria to recognize the marriage, that is a seperate Syrian process...

It really sucks that he could not go to this interview... You need to get it re-schedulined ASAP... Talking to all his Syrian Friends and Family (probably not immigration lawyers I suspece) does him no good... This is an issue with United States and he need to follow the research you proveded... If they did not recognize your marriage in the US, then you would not have even gotten this far...

i agree 100000000%. i just talked to yet another attorney friend of mine today and she suggested that perhaps that angle is being brought up because syria isnt keen on letting people out so easily, i guess because they lost a lot of brain power from the 80s (she is syrian too). soooooo.....i told hubby, just call them tomorrow and reschedule and go and hope for the best..that's it.

guess everything happens for a reason....on a side note, so random......i got a free car today. it's a minivan and old, but in great shape....and i didn't really even ask for it, it was just offered...at least i'll have a decent set of wheels to pick him up in when he comes lol

trying to find the bright side in all of this....

thanks, guys (F)

It should not matter if Syria want him to leave or not... It is up to the United States of America to grant the request for him to become a legal permanent resident so it doesent matter what Syria wants!!!
