Yesterday my husband received a Request for Additional Evidence. It says:

Regulation requires nonimmigrant males who meet the following criteria to register in the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS).

Nationals or citizens of Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan or Syria who were:

~Born on or before Nov 15, 1986 AND

~Admitted to the US on or before 9/1002 AND

~Remained in the US at least until 12/16/02

He must submit evidence that he registered in NSEERS at POE. Nobody said anything to us at POE. However, they did give him the 1-94 and checked his visa. We've already submitted copies of both. What is it they want?

Anyone have experience with this?

Maybe this will help: http://www.ice.gov/pi/specialregistration/

Now, whether this is done automatically as a part of the POE experience for certain non-immigrants isn't clear to me. Maybe someone who came here on non-immigrant status from one of the affected countries can chime in on this.

My understanding is that because he came with the intent to immigrate he did not have to register. Someone is making a mistake.

Perhaps a kind inquiry is in order.

Seems like the problems never end for u. So sorry about this.
