Hi to everyone,

I am the petitioner and I am wondering if there is anyone who has been through the the Embassy consulate in Naples, Italy. If so would you be so kind as to let me know what to expect for my Fiance? I plan on being there for his interview but just in case something happens and I can not be there I would like to know what to expect. Like what questions will they ask? How much is the medical? Has the Visa fee been raised? How fast is it issued if approved? Please, Please any help will be appreciated.

Thanks so much

Tracee

I'm wondering the same things, really fearing the Napoli part of this, even my fiance is, he doesn't want to go to Napoli, but on the positive side, I've read on here a lot of people say the embassy officials are very nice and polite, so we're hoping the best. This is all so confusing. I sent you a PM, please keep in touch. we got our NOA2 last week, maybe you'll get yours soon.

Event Date

Service Center : Vermont Service Center

Consulate : Naples, Italy

I-129F Sent : 2009-05-18

I-129F NOA1 : 2009-05-21

I-129F NOA2 : 2009-09-01

NVC Received : 2009-09-04

NVC Left : 2009-10-02

Consulate Received : 2009-10-05

Packet 3 Received : 2009-10-07

Interview ... WAIVED? Never heard of this, but they didn't even interview him, just told him pick up his visa the next day.

Current Status: Interview ... waived ... I guess :) They just took his fingerprints and documents and told him everything was in order and he should pick up his visa tomorrow! WOW

I can't believe it's only been 7 months since we filed ... seems like an eternity!

We are waiting for NVC approval for the CR1.... from what I have been reading the Naples office is pretty efficient (Go Figure???) but my husband is kinda nervous about Naples itself. He was there once and had a bad experience getting his wallet stolen so he is not looking forward to going.... Wonder how long it takes for them to schedule an interview for CR1???

My husband will also have his interview in Naples-when we get to that stage! There are embassy review on VJ. The Naple reviews all sound good.

Click on Embassy Info above and go from there!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!

As long as nothing seems out of the ordinary, the medical and interview at Naples do not seem to be anything dramatic - at least from what I have read and heard. The medical is basically there to make sure that the beneficiary does not have any communicable diseases or is not a psychopath or something of that nature. They're not going to deny anyone for having a cough. With regard to the interview, I've heard that it's basically just in two stages... you get there, they call you up and check over your paperwork, and then you have the "interview" with a consulate officer, that is just a couple of minutes and a couple of questions. I'll be able to confirm all of this next week, as we have the medical on Monday and the interview on Tuesday.

Italy is a very low fraud country when it comes to these types of visas, so you're not going to have near the same amount of scrutiny as you might in many Asian and African countries...

The Naples consulate was amazing. My fiance' had his appointment on Oct 13 and 14 (medical the 13 and interview the 14), and the staff was, to a person, friendly and efficient. He said it was a really positive experience. I know Naples has a bad reputation, but that reputation certainly does not play out within the context of the consulate there. It was all very straightforward, reasonable, courteous and uncomplicated. Buona fortuna a tutti!

P.S. regarding what they asked: They asked him where/how we met, what I did for a living, when we became engaged...and that was about it, really. All of our paperwork was in order and well organized, and the whole thing went pretty quickly.
