You don't give enough information about his case but any permanent resident or any person who has filed for AOS based on his K1 visa and wishes to re-enter the US without any issues, needs to file a re-entry permit or he won't be allowed to enter.

applied for brothers re-entry permit.

had his biomerics taken last month.

now he wishes to go back.

do we have to inform uscis that he is leaving and has not yet received the re-entry permit?

can anyone help?

The i-131 has to be approved before he leaves or it isn't valid.

It not only has to be approved, he needs to have it in his hands before he leaves or he runs the risk of not being allowed back in the US if the AP goes missing between the US and Pakistan (if mailed to him).

I believe you can pick up the AP at a address abroad if approved before you leave and you specified such!

Diana

he is a permanent resident.

he has applied for re-entry permit and had his biometrics taken a copule of weeks ago.

he wishes to go back to pakistan.

i saw on uscis website the approximate processing time for re-entry permit is about 3 months.

so he wont be getting a permit as long as he is in usa.

our relatives on his behalf would recieve the permit and mail it to him in pakistan once they get it.

the question is that.

does anyone know where to inform about his departure or he doesnt have to inform at all?

i read the whole instruction manual that comes with i-131.it said you can leave usa after your biometrics have been taken.

and there is no information of who to inform before leaving.but i saw somewhere on uscis website that you have to inform before going out of usa and still haven't got the permit yet.

It not only has to be approved, he needs to have it in his hands before he leaves or he runs the risk of not being allowed back in the US if the AP goes missing between the US and Pakistan (if mailed to him).

i think its not much of a worry unless really complicated circumstances exist.

because

it can always be re-issued if the original is lost.
